Yeah after using that I've been having a hard time using anything else. I used PdP one day and was disappointed I didn't use the Topanga again...part of me wants to save it...part of me wants to plow through it.

Received a sample of Topanga from John last week, and have used it for several shaves. Probably the best shaving soap I have ever used; beats MdC. Scent to me closely matches PdP. Best post-shave face-feel I have experienced. Soft, terrifically easy to lather, thick and slick lather.
Ordered. Damn you guys! I don't need new soap, but I grew up near Topanga so....

Man...just goes to show you that all folks interpretations of scent on this board should be taken with a grain of salt. One man's sniffer is not necessarily another...
I agree 100%. Held up the Topanga and the PdP to my wife who said that they smelled nothing alike! But to me.......well. Perhaps I will never ask anyone again what a soap or fragrance smells like, because it won't smell like that to me!
Just out of curiosity, what does the Veg smell like?

Even more in the LA shaving club....nice! This stuff is pretty amazing IMHO...but I've gotta kill a puck of Tabac this October to say I've killed a puck of something!

Excellent! I take it these are all Fougèresque in scent? I'm not very well versed in the foug.
I could do that pretty quickly for you if you like, but I wouldn't be using a brush or razor to commit the crime...

I just got my order (lightning speed) and am wondering how you use the samples? They are in tiny tubs, and don't seem soft enough to use like a cream! The Topanga smells amazing btw, got a whole tub of that.

John of LAShaving says to take the soap from the little tub and put it into a bowl, then lather from the bowl. While soft, it does lather up wonderfully well and quickly without using that much soap. Think I made about five twirls and had enough on my brush for a good three lathers. My little tub was good for about four shaves.
Maybe I missed it, but please, what can you gents compare the shave quality to?
