Another sculpture razor, this one bearing the stamp of Hitachi Yasuki steel. Interestingly, this one is a 7/16 kamisori grind, and it's a "real" one with the Yasuki steel forge-welded to soft steel on the omote side. I'm using it two handed and it gives a nice shave if I remember to keep the angle low!
That would be traditional ni-mai (two sheet or layer) construction - common on traditional Japanese single bevel knives.

I've been fortunate to acquire some nice Japanese razors, but this one is the cream of the crop. Yasuki steel, beautfiful to the eye and in the hand. Apparently, Shiozawa-san worked with Iwasaki, which given the quality of this razor does not surprise me. A fitting way to end JSW for me! :)

Finishing the week on a high with the King Pelican 14. This has been in my to-hone pile for a while as it had a large pit to clear, but I'm glad I put the time in as it is a killer shaver. I think it's had a regrind, probably to remove further pitting, but it's still definitely a quarter hollow and a very smooth one at that. The pearlescent scales are very nice!
