Hey Dave, if I get permission to order this will be my first quality knife. Is the santoku a good starting point?

I haven't asked permission or if my wife wants them yet...just waiting for the right moment tonight to pop the question.

I still have to get my wife to use her LE cutting board- she is afraid of ruining it. I told her it was made to be used, not looked at

Wife and I like them and are on the fence, very close to ordering a few (3 likely)...

what has me worried is the USPS Priority Shipping to Canada as we'll get dinged major duty and fees coming across the border (they always do).

Shipping from the US is brutal with these sorts of items. When I order a knife straight from Japan, I pay $4 - $8 for shipping and have not had to pay taxes yet. Shipping from the US is five times the cost and border services almost always seem to find the package. That being said, I think this is still an amazing deal even when you factor in the cost to get the knives here. Maybe forget about the petty for now and just get a Gyuto and Santuko, that way the price you would have paid for the petty covers shipping....

Just thinking out loud really.

it's a thought for sure. but I know my wife would like the matching Petty and she has said the Largest and Smallest are actually the 2 knives she uses most right now. I'm sure the larger petty is great, but she tends to favour our current 4" paring for fruits and stuff.

A buddy just brought in a $200 razor and paid $40 taxes/fees (NO DUTY and shipping, just fees), so if I bring in potentially $350 in knives (the ones she wants), I may be looking at $100+ in fees and shipping.

I'll likely regret it, but I just don't like giving the border and canada customs and shipping that much money, no matter how good a deal. If it had worked out earlier, I could have had them shipped to a US relative and had them bring back.

Oh well, great knives and hope all who purchase love them.

Gentleman, the available amount of knives is dwindling fast with the santoku nearly gone at this point. If you go to the sales page (in my store) and do not see a specific knife shown then this means that they are no longer available.

You guys are great, thank you! :001_smile

I ordered the 210mm chef knife....i asked Jim (the redneck chef of b&b) not to laugh at me when i ask him for a reccomendation for a $100 chef knife....he told me to hold on....then about 4 days later he sent me the link to this collection....he didn't laugh....and i am looking forward to using this one very much....my 26 year old american chef (wedding present) set did not come with a good size chef knife....so i'm lining up the vegetables...

I ordered the big boy yesterday. I hadn't been on B&B for a year. Somebody sent me a PM and I logged in. Boom, right there on the front page. I'm helpless when it comes to this site. Thanks guys. I'm quitting again for a while. Haha!

Cheers,
G

This site is super evil when it comes to your bank account losses. I do appreciate your contribution though - thanks for your order!
