Issue with Wolfman-Is This Normal?

I’m not a perfectionist, but after waiting six months for my Wolfman, I was really disappointed when it arrived today. Has anyone else had issues with the standard polished finish on a Wolfman SS? It even feels like a matte finish to the touch. My form was signed on 09/30/24.

It looks very strange...can you put more photos of the plate as well? Both top and bottom?

Only the top of the cap has these noticeable flaws. The rest isn’t perfect, but it’s at least acceptable. I’ll take some photos and post them soon. Thanks for your reply.
I think at that cost, I would expect more than acceptable on the rest of it. I wouldn’t want to pay that much and have to say that it’s less than perfect. You paid the perfection price for a top end product.

Both the top cap and base plate are far below Wolfman standards for basic polish. It’s not good enough and if you send those photos to Tara I’m sure they will agree and make a new razor head for you. All the basic polished Wolfmans I’ve ever received were perfect and so good that there is no need to consider paying for the mirror polish. The scratches in your photos are not ‘unavoidable’ and I’ve never seen a Wolfman that has any polishing scratches at all.

You shouldn’t ask for only a top cap replacement. Firstly because the base plate is not close to Wolfman quality either. And secondly because James machines the top cap and base plate as a pair and the fit is optimised - that’s why he doesn’t sell separate base plates even though custimers have always clamoured for that.

I’m sure they will replace this razor head for you and there will be no drama.

I wonder if they have engaged a new trainee to do polishing and help accelerate order fulfilment. It looks that way, but I’d have expected James to still inspect each razor and this one should not have been shipped.

I sure hope James and Tara take care of you, @Doubino1 . I've read how difficult it can be to get things corrected when you live in China.. or other SE Asia countries.... Shipping costs to return items is expensive.....

Oh NO. Doubino1, for the ridiculous prices they charge it should be perfect not acceptable. "Acceptable" is what you would expect from a $30.00 Chinese knockoff, not from a company that holds themselves up to be among the BEST razors on the market.

Thank you, Mr. Shavington. Actually, I’m only dissatisfied with the top cap. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a perfectionist—I just want it to function properly. I reached out to Tara simply to get her explanation, as I don’t want to go through the hassle of returning or exchanging it due to the distance.

However, when I posted my photos on BNB, I found that everyone agreed this wasn’t the usual Wolfman quality, which made me feel like I had “won the lottery.”

Below is Tara’s email response. Initially, I didn’t think it was a big deal, but after reading their reply, I am now very frustrated.

Maybe I should pay for the Mirror one:)

Tara didn’t acknowledge that such a basic issue could happen with the great Wolfman and told me to return it, reminding me that “this one is just basic polishing,” perhaps subtly implying, “Oh, buddy, don’t expect too much.” Well, I guess there’s nothing more I can do.

I just hope that because of my feedback in this post, James will “fire his intern” and make Wolfman truly great.

I also have a basic polished WR1 on the way, so we’ll wait and see.
