What's new

iOS 7

Got it yesterday, will take getting used to. Not crazy about the "flat" look of messages and icons, but the overall functionality seems cool to me.

As I started earlier in the thread, it runs smoothly on my iPad 2, which uses the same processor as the iPhone 4S. So, you should be fine, in theory, but that doesn't always work out in practice.

Jason, I didn't catch if anyone answered your keyboard question. The keyboard in the messages app is white. AFAIK, and I've played around quite a bit with the settings, you can't change that. I've noticed 3 or more different keyboards so far. White, the dark one you pointed out, and the old one on some apps that haven't been updated yet.

Thanks, I was hoping someone would discover an option I overlooked to change it. It would be just like apple to use 2 different keyboards and not let us decide which one we want :bored:

I like the dark one much better.

I like the dark one better too. I'm all for dark themes as they're easier on the eyes when viewing for a long time or viewing in a darker environment. That said, I am really enjoying the new OS.

Not that I recommend it, but back when I jailbroke my 4s I was able to change around keyboards fairly easily. Only problem was that certain apps just choose the keyboard for you. Quite frankly though it wasn't very stable. Switched back to the stock OS pretty quickly.

Thanks Omen, DiG3430, and Tuba for the 4s updates. I'm hoping that the complaints I've been reading are just related to the icloud keyboard bug, but many also reporting battery draining problems too.

Think I'll wait a tad bit longer on this one (I didn't upgrade to 6 until this past March so I'm not exactly an early adopter :euro: ).

Well, here's my impressions so far. I'm running iOS7 on an iPad Mini. Safari seems to be faster. Most things work fine, but a couple of game apps lag quite a bit now. Hopefully the developers will address this soon with updates. I've no real problems, just some minor annoyances. I don't really like iOS7 overall, but some of the features are nice. Control Center is nice, but the Android look makes me think that Apple has lost the edge on innovation and is now looking at competitors for inspiration rather than leading the way. This really was change for the sake of change, not because they came up with something that was really useful and beneficial.

I really don't see why Control Center couldn't have been added to iOS6 as an update and left the over all iOS alone. It would have been better than what they've come up with now.

I upgraded my iphone 5 and ipad 4. The process took a few hours due to server unavailability.
I'm getting used to the new design. It seems the transitions are meant to give a 3D feeling, it does that pretty well IMHO.
I don't care that it looks like Android - that means they are on to something, no shame in adopting elements - they've all been doing that for years anyway.
Overall, my battery life seems better - I have heard the opposite from others, but I didn't bother with the parallax thing, so maybe that's why.
