Incense

It may depend on your definition of reasonable. There's that drugstore in Boston that carries unusual scents. It's the only source I've found. I know Nid Hog has used them and been happy. I got MUGGED at Basenotes for questioning their practice of shipping Knize 10 with no box and cap.

A lot of people swear by them. I think K10 is about $70 for 100ml. They have a website but it's crap. Seems like the kind of place you need to call and jawbone with really. They are responsive to email Sent me a sample vial of K10.

Someone will chime in here I hope. Columbia Drugs? Is that it?

I think you're referring to Colonial Drug.

Henry, I have tried all the CdG incenses and a fair amount of the Red series (Palisander, etc.) My take on incense was that it is an ingredient more suited towards feminine fragrances. As used by CdG they are all thin, ephemeral, and very sheer. I wear plenty of borderline-fem scents but these were all too sheer by half. Much as you dewcribe the collective effect of F&M.

Resin on the other hand can be much more masculine. I just popped for a bottle of Serge Lutens Fille en Anguilles (pine and resin, and Serge-like candied fruit accords)and the resin note there helps keep the heavy pine in check. That may be more what you are looking for.

Yes....Serge Lutens may be exactly what you're looking for. I sampled it this last weekend. They had quite a number of different bottles at the store, so I can't be certain that the incense fragrance was Fille en Anguilles, but it was definitely Serge Lutens.
