What's new

"In 2013 My Shave Den Will Be.

I'm going to try to put together a 7 day dubl duck straight razor set, one of those giant 8/8 wade and butcher razors, a seamogue owners club boar, muhle synthetic, CF lime shaving cream, maybe some frags, some AS.

I will be on the look out for a high grade boar brush, i forked out big bucks for a Colonel- badger, its just dosnt whipp up a good lather, unless im doing it wrong, i have a cheap boar brush, and boy it does a great job.

I am currently resisting buying anything new, until I use up what I have. I may sell a couple of the first inexpensive straights I picked up, and just keep my nicer ones and favorites. I figure though, by Summer, I should be ready to get some new soaps and things to try, and start a new rotation.

Dwindling, have long gone through most of the acquisition stuff, creams, soaps, brushes, razors, blades, after shave and cologne. Any new items that I pick up in the new year will definitely be a treat or simply a replacement of what I already have.

Hopefully leaner. I dont plan on buying any additional soaps/creams until I either use what I have, or give it away.

In 2013 my shave den will be refined to reflect that I've better learned what I like.

I'm still in the 2012 Sabbatical so there will be purchases in 2013 but they will be rather restrained compared to what I used to do.

Incoming purchases will include tallow based soaps, Portugese creams, a brush or two and probably a straight. No interest in all the other stuff.

Thinned of a few vintage straights, (gonna sell a few) get a couple new straights. I would like to try a bunch of soaps, find 3 maybe 4 different DE blades and get 100 or more of each. I want to build a stand for my razors and brushes. I also wouldn't mind owning an R41. Planning to restore 4 brushes and finish restoring a few vintage straights.

I think that's it.

As a follow up, for years I considered myself in the battle to be a MINIMALIST.... Now I am just going to enjoy my den and expand it to whatever I decide. There are some old favorites I am revisiting recently that I haven't used in years. I can see less hardware and much more software coming into the den.

Creams and Soaps will be reduced
De Razors will be greatly reduced
Brushes will remain the same

I just got my first straight from Larry Andro..
now the pain begins..straights,strops,hones....

....much the same. May add a straight and/or a Streamline but that's it. Sabbaticaling for as long as I can.
This year was one of learning and wonder. As in "I wonder what that one's like?"
2013 is the year to refine and really figure out what works and what doesn't.
So long as I remember my goals and don't get distracted I should be ok.

oh look, shiny.......

I want to buy a custom shavemac this year. I am also going to make a custom brush with Faux Jade for myself with a large TGN Finest
