I got Blessed with Vintage Razor Yesterday

My mother dropped over today for chit chat and other things; and in the middle of us talking pulled out a gunked up razor. I knew right off the bat it was a Gillette but that was all. So I got out the vinegar, Hot water, and the tooth paste. It cleaned up fairly well enough to see the date code and then I started looking in the razor review section. So I got me a 1957 Gillette Flair Tip Super Speed.My first Double Edge Razor.

I'll post a picture tomorrow after I get some metal polish at the store.

Congrats!! Be careful with the metal polish!! MAAS is the best IMO...Just be careful...a lot of polishes will take the nickel right off!! NO BRASSO!! No Abrasives!!! There are lots of threads around on cleaning razors. Best of luck and be sure to post pics!!

Nothing Special her first husbands razor...I guess she stole it from him for her legs...and just kept it. She does remember going out and buying it with him.

I am going to pick up a little tube of MAAS and go from there. Following the thread here on cleaning and refurbishing.
I will post some after picks when done.

That is the first sign of an impending Razor Acquisition Disorder. Great to see!!!

I still get excited as all get out when I find a new razor to add to the pile and definitely when I have something coming in the mail.

I have one razor I have been waiting to get from a guy who went out of town a while back. The crazy bugger left for like 6 months. I phoned every Monday for the last half year and just got his answering machine. I called today, and his wife answered and said 'oh you are the guy who wants the razor'? WooooHoooo!! He knows I am coming! (either he is happy to sell it or he has warned his wife about some insane razor stalker!). It has been a long painful - but exciting wait! It is almost at an end. And of course then, there will be the next one!!!!

Yes I have already been infected by the dreaded RAD virus....which has secondary viruses such as SAD, ARAD, CAD, ASAD, and the dreaded SBAD.

I have seen signs of RAD, ARAD, SAD and CAD infection. I will just pray that ASAD and SBAD do not affect me.

I just won last week a lot of 9 razors on the bay so I know for a fact I have ARAD.

Question?--is there a difference between RAD and ARAD?
Because I think I only have the ARAD---unless it mutates!

The only treatment--there is no cure-- is periodic purchases to keep the virus in check, without these periodic purchases the virus would go into full blown extrication where the disease would cause-- CCDA and then SWMBO apocalypse would follow.

Have you fed your RAD this week?
