What's new

I found my one all be all soap.

Ditto, ditto
I've only tried the Absinthe, and once my nose detected the fennel I couldn't "unsmell" it. It was a disappointment for me.

Regarding the Magellan, I'm now afraid to risk it...I took quite a beating buying the Absinthe and then selling it after one use and, in hindsight, the Magellan scent at least sounds more appealing.

What's your take on the Magellan?

I'm thinking I may try a sample when (if) it becomes available. My mistake with the Absinthe was thinking: "I've got all the other flavors and love em, this must be good".
I haven't tried it yet... it's up next week. It smells a bit like Bay Rum without bay or rum. Cloves, cinnamon, vanilla... just sniffing the jar.

Your logic is what led to me getting them. My son tried a couple of mine when he was visiting and decided to get some for himself and ordered these for me. Of course, I had just let him take my Carbon Cx-Ti home with him... I guess that makes them the most expensive soaps I'll ever have.

Thanks for the news flash, I get it. Still a good soap, in the same way vintage Old Spice is a good soap, although no longer being produced.
Agree completely, the tallow version is my favorite. My timing was great as I stocked up on MWF back in late 2022. In addition to delivering the creamiest and slickest lather it's subtle "clean laundry" scent is also one of my favorites.

Is it the same sandalwood scent as the TOBS cream?
To my nose they are different. Broadly the same of course, yet different.

The cream has a strong, sharp scent (artificial even) which I find overpowering and not particularly pleasant.

The puck on the other hand, is just divine with its milder and smoother scent. This makes sense considering the triple milled soap came long before the cream was created.

...but this one IS cracked.

I always found the cream to have a very artificial scent too, in fact I only finished my cream recently, I had it so long it had turned into a croap and I was glad to see the back of it. I have thought of trying the puck once I get my hoard under control though I seem to be zeroing in on SV and MdC. How is the slickness?

The slickness is excellent, and is easily achieved with a synthetic brush. A badger or boar requires a bit more patience obviously (which I don't have).

I've always liked this soap but when I started using the Muhle Kosmo 21mm STF the quality of lather went from very good to sublime.

I'm not sure I'll ever find the One Soap, but that doesn't bother me as much as it did even a few days ago. Soaps that are fun/interesting/satisfying to shave with and smell nice are welcome in my den.
First few times I used Tabac the fragrance was "different" but after a week I don't notice it at all. It's good soap.
My results mirror yours. It took about a week for my olfactory system to shut down in self defense.

My favorite soaps:
1. Mike's Natural Soap (Orange, Black Pepper, Cedarwood)
2. McD Vetiver

Have Tobacco Leaf from TOBS, Castle Forbes 1445, Holy Black (Gunpowder Spice) that I use occasionally...

Waiting on HOM Tobacconist (they have duck fat and lanolin in addition to beef tallow); Cella Bio Organic, Sterling Mountain, Proraso Sensitive (giving a second chance).

Gave away/got rid of razor rock soaps, FAs, Rex Supply, and plenty others. The soaps that I would not even keep for occasional use.

Oooooohhh my favorite brush, I have the bog oak handle!
Ditto. Until I got the Kosmo (I blame you for that btw), I struggled to get on with other Muhle STF brushes. They are all, to varying degrees, too dense which makes them uncomfortable to splay.

The Kosmo knot on the other hand is nowhere not as dense and splays so easily that brush burn is a thing of the past 🙂

You got me. I just ordered a puck.
@Bosh Hog , so my puck of Kent just came in. I couldn't wait. I soaked it for about 10 minutes to hydrate it well, and then I did a test lather. It lathered like a boss! I haven't shaved with it yet, but if it does well, I will likely stock up on these before they run out. $8 for a 4oz. puck. No brainer.

Edit: That being said, it does not list tallow as an ingredient even thought that version is still shown on the Amazon website. Nor is the ingredient list the same as the new formulation of MWF. I guess they're buying their soap from a new supplier now. We'll see how it goes.

I am happy that I am to blame for your coming into possession of such an exceptional brush.

Ive tried a few different soaps. PAA, goodfellas smile, Razorock, Van der hagen, proraso and I tend to lean heavily towards PAA. The scent is intoxicating. I think runner up for me so far is goodfellas smile. I also found the one I tried to be intoxicating.

@Bosh Hog , @tropic, I tried it today, and it was very good! The puck produced a great lather and cushion, and I enjoyed it immensely. Thanks for the suggestion, and at that price...it's great!
