What's new

how long have you had your tweezerman?

see now that's something id get. I really want a heavier handle. I was thinking about making my own brush at one point out of horse hair because it should be way firmer and scrubbier. lol

I've had mine for about 4 months now. It sheds like crazy (3-4 hairs every shave) and seems to be a lather hog. All the lather stays in the brush. I either have to scrape it out on the side of the bowl or press the brush way down in the bowl to get lather. I'm still new at this so I'm probably doing something wrong but I have yet to get anything that even remotely looks like the picture Turtle posted. I can get good lather (using Proraso), it just doesn't want to come out of the brush...

itll do that for a little bit mopar. it stops. lol. and I wonder who bought a used tweezerman also. theyre like 12 bucks new. lol. I want to get a way stiffer brush before synthetic, maybe another pure badger.

I had mine for 18 months before I PIFed it. I loved the size of it and the bristles got softer over time. Not the softest most luxurious brush out there, but for a newbie it is fine.

The Lather Maestro
I used one every day - no rotation for over 4 years before I joined here and learned that was probably impossible.

I used current Willams, too. I'd leave the puck in the mug, drop the brush in, completely fill it in the shower and let it soak while I washed off. Then I'd dump the water and shave in the shower with my Gillette Fusion cartridge.

Then I got here and discovered I was violating several primary laws of nature, so I stopped that and started "doing it right". :wink2: The brush is still in good shape, but I never use it any more. Not sure where it is, actually. I think I may have given it to a daughter's boyfriend a couple years back.

I had mine for about a year and wasn't using it much as of late.

I gave it to a friend that got interested in wet shaving after he returned from New York with his late father's Gillette razors.....a silver tech and a Knack. He knew I was a wet shaver and brought me the razors.

I brought them back to life with Scrubbing Bubbles and an adjustment or two and gave him a pack of Feathers. I gave him that Tweezerman, one of the little salsa bowls from Walmart along with a puck of soap. I taught him how to lather and now he is hooked.

Mine rarely shed and was a pretty good brush for its price point.

Just bought my brush to form my own opinions. I am sure you will see my feedback the next time someone asks an opinion on the brush in some future thread.

Mine is just about 1 month old. Bought it hoping to use it for travel. No major shedding (though a bit more than any other brush I owned) or smell. I was shocked by how scratchy it was, though. I use it on rare occasions to shave, and it is my test lather brush for new creams and soaps. It does lather reasonably well and seems to be getting a bit softer.

I'm glad I got my Frank Shaving Finest first. The Tweezerman would have been a big disappointment for my first badger brush. But for a starter brush it isn't too bad, I suppose, as long as you don't judge badger in general by its performance. My first brush was a VDH boar. I don't judge boar brushes by the performance of that brush.

Compared to the VDH, the similarly priced Tweezerman is a fantastic brush.
