Help pick a new watch

Trying to decide on a tank to wear with my tux. Was thinking about a Cartier Tank Must, but I already have a Tank Francaise, so was thinking of either a B&M or a Longines. Which of these would y'all suggest, and what do you know of the brands?

If I were looking for one, I would probably go down the vintage Cartier Art Deco road, I would imagine you can find some mint watches because they are dress watches and wouldn't have seen much wear through the years.

Trash, and money is no object. Would never ever ever. Drug dealers watch.

Your statement is bogus, many people with money collect Hi dollar Watch he's, having seen this watch on gentleman I know. He is a successful businessman. This watch in question is unique, but IMHO if I had the money to buy. I would go with a Real Rolex Day Date Special.

JLC Reverso is nice.
Yeah, I like the reverso as well, but again, it is a specific piece to wear the 6 or so times I go to a charity event and wear a tux. Technically, you shouldn't even wear a watch with evening formal wear, but I feel naked without one, so looking for the least number of complications. Probably going to go with the B&M since it has no date.

So if you take the question in context, I want to buy a watch to wear with a tuxedo the roughly six times a year I wear one. I am literally buying a watch to match an outfit. The only Rolex that would fit remotely is a Cellini, if that. No President, or Datejust, or Rolex Sports watch would work. As for the Richard Mille, I can appreciate a watch maker that has managed to dupe people into spending in some instances upwards of a million dollars for an Invicta/Ed Hardy designed watch with a horological history of literally a blink of an eye. Founded 2001. They are ugly. They do not fit what I am going for aesthetically.

I think Richard Mille Wartchesm, are like William Henry Pocket Knives. Functional art, but not real practical.

As for wearing a Tuxedo, that to me is dressing up to a point I want zero to do with. Think the last time I wore a Jacket & Tie was over 50 years ago.

I dress very casual, and was fortunate to be about to make a good living in blue jeans, a color t-shirt, and running shoes. Getting dressed up was a Hawaiian Type Shirt from LLBean.

I like the B&M the best of the 3 photos for your situation, mostly because it does not have blued hands.

But if this is going to be an occasional watch, why not stick with the Tank Francaise you already have?

I like both brands and ultimately is going to come down to which one actually appeals to you. The BM is very often a very thick watch for its size compared to other brands though way very good watch so for that reason if you compare them, you might like the Longines. You might also look at Omega watches. Of the two that you showed us. There is nothing wrong with either of them. They both might good watches and will last a lifetime and beyond.

Steel bracelet is not really appropriate for formal wear.

I actually enjoy it. The most dressed I get for work is a sports coat and jeans. I do like the occasional formal event though.

For occasional wear and a budget of 1.5-2k I would go for a manual wind vintage for your Tux. Totally by the books in 18k but I wouldn’t be dogmatic about it.

If you want a tank- of the 2 I would go with the B&M. A date complication is surplus on a tux watch.

In the same sub 2K space as defined by a B&M tank auto- I offer the following outside the box thought-

Something by Nomos or Jhughans. Likely round and not a tank but still slim, on a strap and quality pieces.

More money- JLC Reverso.

More risk- As mentioned- same 2k ish max- a vintage 18KT watch from Omega, IWC, GIRARD PERREGAUX etc.
