Halloween PIF- Skin Moisturizer/After Shave

I'm in. I use alum and Old Spice classic, because that's all this newbie had right now. Thanks for the opportunity!

Thanks for all who participated.
dfoulk, your name was selected at random by my lovely assistant Sandra. PM on it's way to you.

Mgoldmann,

Since joining this site I've been truly amazed at the generosity of members here.
I haven't experienced this willingness to help one another (even at one's own expense) at any other site or forum I've ever been on.
Maybe that's why I like this forum so much.
I've seen people here send pass along boxes (with several hundreds of dollars worth of items), or extremely expensive razors (Cobra Classic) to complete strangers with the understanding that they'll try it and send it along when they are done.
I've even seen one PIF that had to contain at least $300 worth of brand new items specifically bought to give away.

It's truly wonderful to see, and your generosity Mgoldmann is another fine example of this. I do understand that you have to take time from your day to go to the post office and take money from your pocket to pay the postage to send this to me. I do appreciate the bottle of moisturizer but also appreciate the other sacrifices you will make to help out a complete stranger.

I sent some blades out to another member this morning, and I'll make sure I keep helping out others here as well to keep the PIF spirit alive.

Thank you so much, not just for a bottle of moisturizer, but for your generosity and thoughtfulness.

I look forward to trying the moisturizer and will share my thoughts here when I do.

Many thanks,
David

I received the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Moisturizer yesterday and included was a Small bottle of JCrew Shave Gel. Thank you again mgoldmann. Very generous of you.

I haven't tried the shave gel yet (will try that soon) but did use the Moisturizer this morning.
It came in a nice looking green bottle that contains over 10 ounces of product. This will definitely last a good long while.
Upon opening the bottle I gave it a smell and it smells wonderful, a nice clean fresh smell but not powdery at all.
Kind of a tea tree peppermint smell. It's really nice and I'm quite fond of it.

From what I've read you can use this as a leave in hair conditioner as well as a moisturizer or after shave lotion. They use this at Sport Clips for their scalp massages. I can see how this product would be great for that. It smells great and supposedly it leaves no residue or greasy feeling in your hair.

I've only used it as an after shave so I'll stick to that for now.
Aftershaves that I like and use are AOS Ocean Kelp, Nancy Boy, Gillette Fusion Intense Cooling Lotion (an excellent inexpensive menthol cooling aftershave), Nuetrogena Razor Defense and L'Occitane Cade (this one's heavier but feels great on and I love the smell). The consistency of this one is a little thicker than that AOS and Nancy Boy aftershaves, but nowhere near as thick as the Cade. It's about on par with the Neutrogena Razor defense and Gillette lotions as far as the consistency goes.

For me it's difficult to find a decent aftershave without trying it first. I don't really like ordering blind and there aren't any shave stores close to me so I've tried about every aftershave lotion I could get my hands on from WalMart and local drug stores and many from department stores looking for those that work for me. The ones that are cologne based from the department stores I find smell great but I find that they just don't perform well.

I got a nice shave this morning with no irritation at all so I can't comment on how it is for razorburn. What I do know is that upon putting it on a little goes a long way. It doesn't seen to absorb right into the skin immediately. As you to rub it in it dries quickly and leaves your skin soft and smooth. It's not greasy at all and not heavy like the Cade aftershave. For the most part I tend to prefer aftershaves that are light and clean and this fits right in. As far as performance goes it is on par with the ones I really like that are in my rotation. I do like this one enough that I will add it to my aftershave rotation and use it on a regular basis. I pretty particular and like this one a lot. I would definitely recommend it. Thanks again mgoldmann for sharing this great aftershave with me.

I'll post my thoughts on the shave gel once I give that a try.

It's been a while since I gave my review of the moisturizer and I'm not sure anyone will actually read this but I promised to give a review of the JCrew shave Gel as well.
I tried it a little while back and this one's not for me. The product smelled great, kind of a menthol mint smell, very clean and fresh, and I thought it would be a really nice pairing with the Paul Mitchell moisturizer. The two scents go together amazingly well, which I'm told is why it was included. The biggest problem the product had was that it is clear. It is a brushless gel as well so it doesn't lather at all. When you put it on your face it reacts with the water on your face and goes on a white color, which is great, but then it then turns clear and disappears again very quickly. So the whole time I was shaving with it I couldn't tell where I had done and where I hadn't.
Sometimes I will splash a little water on my face in between passes and do a little touch up on my known problem areas. To me that is what this whole shave felt like. I kept adding product thinking that it would make the shave better, but it didn't help. I completed my shave and got a decent shave from it but it was far from luxurious. While I do appreciate it being included because I really enjoy trying new products I haven't tried before, this is a product that I would skip.

The moisturizer has however, made it into my normal rotation and continues to impress.
Thanks again for the great PIF, I truly appreciate it.
