Goodfellas Smile 5/8 round point straight razor

I love the look of this razor. I may purchase it. I value your thoughts. I like it has a torque screw to tighten the razor. I wonder if razor can be removed from the scales by unscrewing the torque screw...

Link used was due to most other US outlets are out of stock.

TBH not a huge fan of the screws. Robert Williams used to use them on his razor and I found that they tend to loosen over time. I do like the look, but functionally I prefer pins.
I’ve found the issue to be the same with my Mastro Livi razor. It will loosen up requiring occasional tightening.

Message Geofatboy and ask what he thinks. I've found he is very honest in his reviews and he only promotes what he thinks is a great product. He's tried nearly every razor he sells. Worth the time to ask.

I've been looking at Boker. I bought one of their sharpening stones and really like it. Is that King Cutter something you have used copter?

No. I have the Elite Carbon 2.0 and the 14'er, but OP liked the aesthetic of a razor with black acrylic scales that was priced at $190, so I figured these were suited to his taste.

I have a Graf Englebert on the way. The two I have are ground well. The 14'er had basically no edge on it yet, but took one well. The Elite was almost ready.

I have several T-Is that are well ground, too.

Nice! I was thinking that I needed to add for the OP that depending on his level of experience with a SR, a round tip like he is looking at might be a better choice than my Dovo BL with the Spanish point. I'm relatively new to SR shaving and have nicked myself a few times with the Spanish point but I'm learning really quickly!😆

Yeah, my Spanish point was getting me on every shave until someone told me to rub it on my mirror. Working with a sharp point seems like a technique I can live without, so I just make sure nothing is sharp at the point now.

I guess you can learn not to cut yourself, but I just see zero upside to a sharp point.

I agree round point is best. Then you don't have to bother with it.

Wow. thanks for the feedback and other available options in the price range.

I do like the olive wood scales on that. Do you need to coat those with oil/wax from time to time?

Thanks!
