Godrej Shaving Cream Rich Lather version in Red tube 100 g

I visited an Indian grocery store in Birmingham today and found Godrej Rich Lather shaving cream for $2.56 per tube. I grabbed up three tubes and purchased them. Asking if they ever got any of the other Godrej versions like Lime or Menthol. The clerk said she had never seen anything other than the red tubes. So anyway I now know where I can find this cream at least. The price was great and the store is near a mall we visit a couple ot times a year so all in all a good find.

I used the cream for the first time tonight. The cream is in a 100 g plastic tube the cream is a yellowish white color with visible clear specks. I think the clear looking stuff is the mosturizer or my be the scent. It lathers very well and quickly, and it smells totally different when lathered than it does in the tube. Just smelling it in the tube it reminded me of hand soap, almost a cleaning product smell but not quite. My wife said it smelled like cheap toothpaste! I don't understand that one but that was here exact words.

I did my normal routine of shower, apply Noxzema, rinse, then apply thin layer of Noxzema and face lather on top with my Omega 48 Pro Boar brush. I applied an almond sized gob of cream to the wet brush and lathered away. The first thing I noticed was how quickly the cream lathered up. The next thing was the scent, it was surprising, it began with what I thought was a Sandalwood scent. But after a moment it becomes a more musk/light citrus scent. You get hints of licorice or sassafras and a woody kind of scent. It is actually a quite nice scent in my opinion.

The lather builds quickly as I said and is neither sticky or too slick. In my experience creams that say they are moisturizing tend to be either sticky or too slick. This was not either, it is in fact a very nice cream that feels good on the face and doesn't dry too quickly. The first pass with a Gillette Super Adjustable set on 9 was perfect. The cream gave plenty of glide, not too much cushion, and just felt very good. I rinsed and noticed that the cream rinses well and doesn't have that overly soapy feel that some products have. I leave the face wet and just grab the brush and do the second pass lather with whatever is left in the brush from the first lather.

This cream gave just as good a second lather as the first. I did the second pass and did the final rinse checking for areas that needed a touchup. I found none so the razor and cream did their job. I got a two pass BBS shave with no nicks, cuts, or weepers.

This cream is a fantastic value! $2.56 for a tube and it works better than some tubes I paid nearly $20 for, really who could ask for more from an under $3 shaving cream?
it has a great smell, it lathers well, doesn't dry out too quickly, gives good cushion and glide, and rinses pretty easily. My face feels mosturized some two hours after shaving and that is a bonus that I wasn't expecting.

if you haven't tried this cream I say what are you waiting for? This is some great shave cream at a great price if you can get it at an Indian grocery store near you.

Yep...good stuff. Wait till you try the menthol (if that's your thing). It's a face-freezer!

Nice post about a great shave cream.

Is there anything better than finding such a gem on sale for bargain bin prices?

^ Yeah...to get it at a good price you have to search around at your local Indian markets (if you have any). And even then, there's no guarantee they'll have it in stock. I have 5 or 6 Indian markets near me, and none of them have ever had any Indian shaving products. If you get this online, then you'll pay closer to what we're used to with creams in general. It's still a top-performing cream, no doubt, but you'll only score a deal if you luck across it somewhere in the wild.

Friendly colleagues from my Indian office sent over Godrej Cool Menthol and Lime Fresh -- not the red label, though -- with one of the team members who was visiting NYC.

Despite an intensive search of the metro area, the only time I've ever seen Godrej in an NYC store was at Pasteur's, marked up substantially.

Jackpot!

I have at least two stores in Ft. Myers who stock it. Just found the second one, and when I go off sabbatical in January, I'll get a tube of Lime there. Love lanolin in my creams/soaps.

The red is the best. Not just the best Godrej, but the best cream, period. Absolutely the best. In Dubai I get this for less than a buck a tube and I really love it. I don't care about the scent... thats what I got LayRite #9 and Clubman and Ogallala Bay Rum AS for. But I like Godrej Red better than ProRaso. Better than Cella. Better than ANYTHING. It is the best, I tell you. The BEST.

Superlather made with Godrej Red and VDH, whipped up with a 30mm Chinese Silvertip, is heavenly. and my oh my, look how cheap...
