Gillette Platinum Blades

I bought 50 from an ebay seller in Israel 3-4 months ago. They are in my top 3 blades, along with Polsilver SI's and Perma-Sharp Supers (which IMHO are a very under appreciated blade available on Amazon for reasonable cost).

Permasharp Supers are the best value blade out there for price & performance, period.

Sharp, very smooth and reasonable longevity, and all at $20 per 100 blade tuck. BestShave is my preferred supplier, I usually grab at least 3 tucks at a time, qualifies for free postage.

I've got a pack from a subway kiosk. The blade seemed pretty smooth at the first shave, although I noticed that acheiving BBS was quite hard (ATG left too many hair). I use DE89, by the way. The day after this I went full ATG with the same blade and it quite ruined my skin in the upper lip region. Dull, tugging blade not designated for ATG in my opinion

After using a few different blade Gillette brand names it is very clear to me that the Gillette Proctor Gamble Saint Petersburg plant in Russia makes some of the best blades in the world and the only difference to Gillette blade brand names would only be the coatings, They are all stainless steel and ground on same grinders honed on same machines & heat treated similar in the same factory and shave similar on second or 3rd shave which is the sharpest edge you will get IMO.
So coatings is were to look for the smooth shave of your comfort IMO, the Special Stainless steel they use is some of the best in the world so coatings and QC is the only thing the blade needs and you to choose it that way.(Sharpness will be very similar always) (coatings comparison will wear differently per same # of shaves and so does the smoothness scale)
As for the Gillette silver Blue blade that is a nice smooth sharp blade and look forward to more shaves.

Another "out of production" blade that's available by the thousands on The Big Auction Site. (These quotes are from 2013.)
I think its fair to say with the new plants and technology that Gillette holds they can do batches of brand blades to satisfy their loyal customers, they do not want customers straying away from their favourite brand.

I found I really enjoy the Gillette Platinum blades. Unfortunately, I have not found an on-line store that carries them. Does anyone know where I can buy them. Thanks.
Razor Blade Club in Sweden has then$16.95 for 100. Free shipping on any order of 100 blades and up.
Used one in my Futur Clone the other day. Got an incredibly smooth DFS. The blade worked so well, that I'm thinking of using it to replace GSB in my rotation of blades.

Wow, these blades sound like a real good product.
I am seriously thinking of getting some, I see on Amazon Prime that they cost only like 23 dollars per hundred.
And looking for a top of the line, sharp but very smooth blade... similar to Med Preps.
What's their longevity like for you shavers with good technique?
Do you easily get at least 10 good shaves with them?
Thanks!

I have 25 shaves today on the first edge, just dropping off of that "super sharp" state when new. Will get at least 50 shaves on it, probably 80. I'd say it has good longevity compared to Nacet and Astra SP blades, maybe a little less than Polsliver SI or German Wilkinsons, but it will take me a few more months to know for sure.

Not everyone gets this many shaves, certainly, but you will get good blade life out of them.

I'm quite happy with them, and have a lifetime supply now (50 blades).

Tried a Gillette Platinum Plus today. Liked it so much I stopped in my local store and bought out the rest of their stock. They are the Brazilian made Gillette blades and seem to be thinner than most. Extremely sharp and smooth. So smooth in fact I was not sure it was doing much cutting at the beginning of the first down stroke. Looks like I found a great blade for my slim adjustable. Tomorrow I am going to try it in a Milord and then a Fatboy. It looks like this blade is getting hard to find though. I cannot find any place to order it by the 100.
