Found a bottle of Lilac Vegetal at a local pharmacy!

Thanks! After all the hoopla about this scent, I'm pretty surprised- figured I'd hate it when I finally gave it a shot. It doesn't exactly make me want to go punch someone, but I believe with a bit of this splashed on my face after a quality shave I definitely would if I had to.

Personally, I don't like it/it doesn't like me, but LV has been around a long time for a reason. If you find something that you like and you can wear, then by all means go for it! I like the old style AS that are no longer poular. I don't want to smell like everyone else, and these Pinaud & Master's AS allow you to have a scent that is your own.

Hmm. Does it really alter the smell? I do have a Pinaud Clubman "greaseless hair tonic" bottle I found recently, it's not correct but still pretty awesome looking. I need to get a little decanting funnel.

Only for the first few minutes. Eventually, the scent out of either bottle seems about the same, once it begins to settle. It's the out-of-bottle scent that the glass seems to improve. I have a little chili sauce bottle that I'm using until i can find a vintage glass bottle, or perhaps just a better modern one.

I finally put it on after a good shave yesterday and It's not bad. I gotta give myself some time with it before I can decide because I hated Clubman at first too, and now I love it.

If you say it's not bad now, then you will probably love it. If you were going to hate it, then it should have been right away.

Ha HA! Hung out with the girl last night and tried out The Veg on her. She actually really liked it, but was surprised by the odor from the bottle ("porta-potty" her words). I'm not a kiss and tell sort of guy, but I will say that I did not spend the night on the couch!

I went into an independent pharmacy in downtown Evansville, IN looking for some Clubman Special Reserve. Can you believe the only Clubman they carry is Lilac Vegetal? I'd read the threads here at B&B about this aftershave. I bought a bottle. Yep, urine smell, even after the dry-down. I changed it to a glass bottle. Same result. I cut it 50/50 with witch hazel and a bit of Clubman Classic. Same. It went down the drain. My first after shave blunder. I'll just accept it as stupid tax.

As I was finishing my training ride today (I am a bicycle racer), I was searching for medical supplies at a local pharmacy after having a bit of road rash from a crash this weekend- it's annoying to deal with till it heals, and tegaderm is the best way to heal it quickly.

But of course I had to check the shaving supplies, just to be sure they didn't have anything interesting that I haven't tried... Yes! The Veg! One Pinaud scent I haven't experienced, and obviously the most polarizing of aftershaves on this board.

I wear aftershave because it's fun, and I've not really met one yet that I absolutely hated (although after giving it a good chance, I think I don't care for Pinaud Special Reserve- that stuff is a little much). I don't care much what others think of my aftershavey smells, and honestly I could shave avery 2 weeks and no one I interact with would care at all- I have my own business that does not in any way require me to be presentable (except maybe on the bike). I'm 33, so most of my contemporaries have no experience with classic smells, I feel like a regular maverick when I wear the classics.

So I immediately grabbed a bottle and figured I'd spend my bandage money on a fun impulse buy instead. Got home, had a kind of average shave from my '46 Ranger Tech w/ an Astra Superior; used a Euro Palmolive shave stick with a vintage Rooney brush. I opted for no witch hazel just to get the full effect from the Veg, and I slapped on a mighty handful. I did notice that it smelled remarkably like a urinal mint at first, but I'm really liking it after the dry down. Lilacy! Urinal smell disappeared after a few minutes, smells fine!

I'll be interested to get a ladies opinion on this, and I'll get a chance to try it out on one later in the week so that will be fun!

So, I hope that answers your question about feedback from women. Having said that, I say, who cares? Women don't dress for us. They dress for other women. We should do the same in reverse. I personally love lilac vegetal and will continue to wear it as I sleep on the couch. Who cares. I'm over 70. Believe me, it's not a big sacrifice at my age. I don't even remember what I'm sacrificing...
