I just got my Clarks shoes back from being repaired - new heels and soles. For €42 I couldn't be happier.

The last time I was passing the Clarks factory in Somerset there was a coachload of Japanese tourists waiting in line to go into the shop. They buy Clarks shoes as gifts for their family.
Clarks are decent middle class shoes. They look good, and I usually manage to have them repaired a few times before they are ready to be thrown away, which is important to me. The Clarks sold he in Germany are manufactured in a number of countries in Asia - the best ones seem to come from India.
Is there still a production in Somerset?
