Favorite PERMANENT soaps/creams in your shave den ...

Here are my top 5 that I have always in stock:

Dr. Harris Windsor (triple milled tallow, my best)
Haslinger Shafmilch
Tabac
Ach Brito Mogno
Myrsol Blue.

None of them is expensive, but they all offer a pure barber alike shave experience.

Stirling Barbershop, Gentleman and at least one of their summer scents (Orange Chill, MITA) will always have a spot in my rotation. Stirling soaps in general just tick all the boxes for me. Fantastic price to performance ratio and a wide variety of scents. The other 4 spots in my rotation are for trying out different soaps, some of which may eventually occupy a permanent spot.

I’m in good shape, but face it, if your life expectancy is 15 more years, there’s no point in spending a year with Arko when you could spend a year with Boellis or Acqua di Parma. All soap is cheap except relative to other soap.
This part really resonates with me, especially because I have a similar approach for both soaps and brushes.

My shaving soap will likely last me 30+ years, so my approach is also to first use what I enjoy the most: SMN, MdC, SV, MWF, OAM, GFT.

My most used brushes are large 3 band badgers with 28/30mm knots. Since soap is cheap and life is short, I make sure to load those brushes with enough soap to create that rich and thick lather. For me, this really elevates the shaving experience.

Also, I am well aware that this approach is wasteful for some and I also understand those who try to be economical and load just enough so they can use all that lather, but I am also trying to be a bit realistic here: I bought all those soaps and if I don't use them, there's a really good chance they will end up in the bin. My 7 months old son will probably not use them when it's time for him to shave, so why shouldn't I enjoy them as much as possible?

Now, when it comes to straight razors and stones, things are on the opposite spectrum: most of my razors in my rotations are not that special, while the collectible ones I have either never used or used maybe once. My collectible Jnats have been used very infrequently and I hone my razors on either large arks or average looking Jnats. Perphaps I should reconsider how things are going here.

Cheers!

I would always restock the following soaps:

Kali flower , citrus & cedar
Crowne & crane, Norsemen
Chiseled face, woody lavender and Jarnvidr
Spearhead Seaforth!, Any scent
Henri et Victoria, kraken
House of Mammoth, uitwaaien
Mike’s Natural Soaps, jasmine
Noble Otter, firefighter and thé noir et vanille
Southern Witchcrafts, druantia
The Sudsy Soapery, rain
Wickham Soap Co. , Scottish heather
Areffa, discoverer

Sadly MWF is no more, but I have bought 22 backup pucks. That should last me at least two decades.
