What's new

Ebay razors arrived...(LOTS of pictures)

amazing job! they look like they all just got plated.
the khaki set is especially amazing, blood skin and hair ..must have been sitting like that for decades but the after pic, it looks brand new!
you should post a tutorial.

thanks for the pics..

Would you mind to tell us, what kind of tools/machinery do you use for clean up/restore beside the elbow grease ? You gain impressive results. WOW !

Sorry I cant tell you how I clean the razors...if I do, you will be buying up all the crappy looking cheap razors on eBay :biggrin1:

Actually its not hard to get them to look like this...
All razors get soaked in the kitchen sink with hot water and dish soap for a half hour or so.
I usually will then give them a liberal spray with Scrubbin Bubbles, especially if they are covered in old dried soap scum.

After 10 minutes of sitting on the counter soaking up the scrubbing bubbles...back into the hot water/dish soap
I then give them a real good scrubbing using either a stiff nylon brush or a toothbrush depending on the type of plating and or the amount of corrosion.

The above razor came out of the scrubbing process looking like this

If youre cleaning a brass razor...most of the green corrosion comes off with scrubbing with a stiff nylon brush

Nickel plated razors, like most Techs, SS' etc usually come out ok unless the corrosion has worked under the plating..they will still come out clean but not much you can do with pitting and plating loss

After I'm happy with the scubbing, its the fun part...
I use Flitz polish and a microfibre cloth and hand polish the complete razor.
This is where you really see a big difference and quickly...especially brass razors

The Flitz will turn this..

into this

So basically...lots of scrubbing and then polishing with Flitz...usually takes me an hour to do a razor +/-
