Does anyone use a spray bottle with vodka as aftershave?

I have a sensitive skin and often struggle with post-shave irritation.
I was looking for an affordable aftershave with safer ingredients. One thing that surprisingly worked for me was just plain, cheap vodka.
I filled an 8oz spray bottle filled with cheap "five o'clock" vodka (and noone is the wiser :001_cool:).

After shaving, I spray my face with the vodka. Then apply facial cream (CeraVe) before the alcohol dries.
If later I feel a bit of irritation somewhere, I spray a tad more on that particular spot.
I also found that if I were to wash away the vodka with water the benefits sre diminished (more irritation).
Almost as if the vodka combined with the facial cream has antiinflammatory properties.

Wonder if anyone can help improve the experince, offer some observations / advice.
Thanks for reading. I am new here.

I think unscented aftershave is a great idea.

If I wanted to make my own aftershave, I'd aim for at least 120 proof (60% alcohol by volume) with neutral scent. At the liquor store, that might be something like Everclear. I'd add a little vegetable glycerin or sorbitol. Cerave is good, but at least for me, not always needed.

An alternative is Perfumer's Alcohol, that is usually denatured ethyl alcohol made for topical use. No beverage tax on that.

To be honest, that's wild. That's some russian way to go :bayrum2:
I wouldn't do such a thing as it would dry skin as hell. Also, smell of vodka in the beginning of the day? Who am I? An aristocrat?

Splashing with vodka is indeed drying. Spraying somehow feels... gentler. Maybe some of the alcohol evaporates from the mist before reaching the skin? Or maybe the amount is much smaller than a splash.

I have used vodka during my college days. Works in a pinch, but the alcohol content is a lot less than traditional aftershaves.

If you are interested in DIY, get your hands on some rectified spirit, basically 96% alcohol vodka without any smell. You can also mix it with cologne, dilute it with a little bit of water, even add a few drops of glycerin.

Not for me. If price is an issue then I can get 1L of Varon Dandy aftershave in a glass bottle, delivered to my home, for less then I could buy a bottle of vodka at my local store. Varon Dandy has a spicy masculine scent, it is from Spain, and has been in production for over 100 years, they must be doing something right.

No! In Australia the police can stop us anytime, anywhere for random breath testing. I definitely do not want to smell of vodka!

Starting a little early today, aren't you, Sir?

I'd give it a shot but likely wouldn't make it my regular option. I like hot aftershave, I'm sure this would rate pretty high.

If I were to use as much scented aftershave as I use vodka... my wife will go live with her parents.
I guess moderation is not one of my virtues 🤣

Please explain the LAW, DOWN UNDER to those who do not understand your laws. It is ileagle to be on foot with Alcohol on breath?

Use to work with this Reporter from down Under, he was very good emptying bottle of fine spirits, those drink down under was a competitive sport. Could never keep up with the guy after a days work. My line was see you in the am, need to get home in one piece.

You can be stopped when operating a motor vehicle or boat.
