Dignity and the Wet shave

I tried a pair of fresh Feathers in a Fat Boy and Slim this morning. What a great blade that really pushed these razors to their limit. For the Fat Boy, I started out ATG at 4, then did an XTG pass at 6, with a bit of touch up at 8. It was a touch aggressive - not settings I would use for daily use, but I did get a close, BBS- shave. FIS was about 4.5. The Slim seems a bit more aggressive out of the gate. I started ATG at 2, then XTG at 4, and finally went after stragglers at 6. Similar outcome as with the Fat Boy.

Hot take: I prefer the Slim, and not because of the finishing job.

For the brush, I used the knot from my Smart Helix, mounted in a Timeless adjustable handle. The outstanding handle from Ukraine is on its way to @Rudy Vey for a new permanent knot D01 3-band. When I bought the handle, there was no way to securely affix the knot and my home attempt to epoxy it only lasted 6 months. I'm letting a pro go at it now. The old knot is wonderful by the way. Though a 26mm fan, it has a high loft and splays wonderfully. Very little scritch - which is perfect.

Nice shave! Too bad about Smart Helix. I’d love to get one of their razors. My heart goes out to Ukraine.

I got some from a different vendor, also in Tampa that also packed them in a padded envelope, but they packed the boxes tightly together so they didn't bang against each other. They arrived in good shape as well.

As it happens, the first place I ordered from sent me a fresh set. These were superbly wrapped and boxed. With just the Lab Blues, Feathers, Shicks, Wilkinsons and Perma-Sharps. I could go one and done for the rest of my days without running out.
