Difference between Timeless SLIM SB (0.5 gap) and Timeless SB (0.68 gap)

Iridian

Cool and slimy
Hi, folks

I wanted to ask what is the difference in aggressiveness between these two: Timeless SLIM SB (0.5 gap) and Timeless SB (0.68 gap)?

Thanks
T-Rex vs Sand Lizard.

The Slim is harder to use and harsh at many angles, it also cuts very deep and can cause serious skin irritation.
The .68 is much more easygoing and mild.

Mind, I don't even have a .68 but a .95 OC and that one is way less aggressive than the Slim.

Addendum, don't let the gap fool you, it's a way more aggressive geometry used for the Slim.
The Slim is one of my all time favorites, yet I always recommend it with a caveat, it is definitely not for everyone and for many just too much.

Super interning to read! I’ve been toying again with getting a Slim SB and Ti.68 OC bc I love the Ti.68SB. I did find the Ti.95 SB too harsh for consecutive days of use.

The Slim is just fascinating to read about bc I have heard to to be aggressive but I’ve also heard it’s essentially the same as the Razorock Gamechanger .84.

This assessment is questionable. SB, OC, JAWS, regardless which one got compared, probably even the 1.05, not at all.

If the .95 SB is already too harsh, you should not even bother trying the Slim, that would only show you the next level of skin irritation.

Very helpful, thank you! I’ll get the Ti.68 OC, since I had the SS equivalent and the only thing that bothered me was the weight.

Mind you there's a significant difference between the SB Slim and the OC Slim. So it's crucial to be aware if the OC or the SB gets discussed.

Based on my experience plus the things I've read the aggressiveness scale wrt Bronze, .68 / 95 / Slim baseplates goes as follows (mild > wild):

.68 SB > .68 SCL > .68 OC*/ .38 (1) Bronze* > 95 SB/.50 SLIM SB (2) > .95 SCL* > .95 OC* > .50 SLIM OC* > .78 OC*

(1) = the .38 might be even a bit smoother than the .68 OC, but the difference is not significant.

(2) = there are some folks who consider the .50 Slim SB to be even milder than the .95 SB.

*based on my own shaving experience

I'd call the Slim OC and the .78 OC aggressive, the latter is a beast.
The rest in the lineup isn't.

Trust this might help to answer your question @Space_Cadet

Cheers!

Stick with the .68 if you like that one. I found the .68, .95, and Slim lacking efficiency when I had them. Very smooth shavers but for whatever reason they all left me wanting more effectiveness. I’m definitely in the minority when it comes to Timeless razors and not preferring them.
