Diamond lapping film-new source!

Which of the types (A/B/P) on psidragon would you recommend?

Type A is the least aggressive, wears the quickest, but leaves the smoothest edge.

Type B has diamond particles encapsulated in ceramic beads. Once the beads wear, the diamond particles come seep out. It's more aggressive, lasts longer, but leaves semi-rough edge.

Type P is a combination of both. It has diamond particles that are glued like Type A but are larger in size like Type B. It's aggressive, lasts a long time, and leaves a smooth edge. Hence, it costs the most of the three films.

my latest strategy is using a 1200 diamond plate, and a 3um DMT plate to save wear and tear on the films, and to use only 1um diamond film for finishing.

Or I just use the aluminum oxide stuff, as it's still inexpensive.

You guys got a deal at $9 a sheet! $40 a sheet is a rip off

Hey,

which one did you get? the last one? Where do you use it in your honing routine? In replacement of cr0?

Hey twoods.. Tiger Woods WOW! my golf hero..

OK,, back to the flim sheets..
I picked up a couple of each but have only used the .5 so far..
cut myself a piece of 1/2" plate glass to put it on, put a couple drops of water on the glass to act as a suction mounting for the film and found it worked not bad... used a honeing stroke, but was not too impressed..so,
Cut a small narrow piece of the film and mounted it on my paddle strop with tape.. in lieu of using paste.. (the paste I has was that stick chrome Ox from Lee Valley that was supposedly with particulate that was too large for the final touch..) now with this film mounted over top of my leather strop I have found it to work excellently used with a stropping stroke..
Strop on the flim for aprox 10 laps or so followed by the plain leather has given me a great edge.. HHT no prob! and a very smooth shave
I would like if others would try this to see just what they think of it...

Cool, I might give that a try. I already got some good quality cr0 though. How long would you say a sheet would last?

Hard to say really... Had the sheets for almost a month.. touch up my razor every three days or so.. and haven't seen any loss of performance yet.
still leaving gray swarf on the film sheet so it is still cutting...
Just finished a BBS str8 shave... so smooth.. just brushing the whiskers away... :)
for the price I think its a great option for some

Anyone UK side wants to try this stuff I have some spare sheets after buying the 5 packs of 3 and 1um. Worked out at £7.50 a sheet with the vat and shipping so that's what I'll let it go for. PM if interested.

I don't know if they had it posted wrong or what, but it now says $41.50 for 5 sheets.

wish i could buy indiv. sheets as I would like to get 1 of ea micron, but don't need 15 sheets
