Custom fan Vie-Long nat. Horse

... I have a Natural Brown set @45mm, which has very stiff backbone and very soft tips, not exactly prickly but great for exfoliation, strictly a face lathering brush for soaps.
Yup, that'e exactely what I do and this little pony has disrupted my regular rotation completely. So far I have never used any other brush for several days in row but this one is really a delight to use.

:thumbup: for Vi-Long and Gifts&Care. I still can't believe this custom brush was here after 4 work days.
2 days manufacturing + 2 days shipping from Spain.

I'm waiting more and more unpatiently on a small package from Lee S.

Icebear, I'm glad you're liking your brush now, after ~40 more lathers you'll really see a difference in the softness of your tips. I barely use the Four Shavemacs I have compared to my Horses and Muhle Black Fibre. I'd recommend adding a mixed V-L knot to your rotation it's really nice for a change of pace, so I'll be putting a couple of Shavemacs on B/S/T next month, I'll be keeping the two that are engraved.

Hello mf tom,
yes indeed, this little horse is a total surprise. This morning I used my Rooney silvertip again and it was disappointing in amount and quality of lather compared to the VieLong. I have no clue why this Horse is so great. I suspect it might hold just the perfect amount of water for the soap. What is quite different that the water is held between the hairs and released pretty easily. After rinsing the brush, giving it a few shakes and gently brushing it over a dry towel, it feels the brush is almost dry.

Gorgeous! I guess you email directly for the custom work? (I'm running incredibly low on caffeine)

I e-mailed Gifts & Care (just use their contact info) and I described what I was thinking about, they checked with the manufacturer and confirmed that they could do it. Super quick service as already mentioned and the brush is just incredible for the money.

Well, I got a Peleon for father's day from my 4 year old son. It's one of VL's cheapest horse brushes, but man, I like it a LOT. It is soft, much softer than I expected. After a few shaves, the scent (which doesn't really smell like an actual horse to me) has diminished greatly, though I sort of like it.

I'm sold, now I want a zurito, but in unbleached, like in the OP. Horse is a great hair, no need to diminish it's praises by dying it to pretend it's badger.

Congrats on a beautiful brush. I ordered a Pro Cachurro #2 from BullGoose last night and I'm chomping at the bit for it to get here!

Browsing the gifts n care website, I don't see a single non-custom 50/50 mix brush in natural, all the 50/50 brushes are dyed, what a shame!

All 50/50 Knots and Badger/Horse knots are dyed, any Knot, 50/50 Banded or 35/65 Natural Brown, can be placed in any handle you might prefer. Simply order the Handle of choice, and in the Comment area, at checkout, specify your preference of knot, 50/50 or 35/65, with the loft and knot you desire.

Ahah! thanks :)

Would it be correct to assume that a 35/65 will have a tad bit more scritch and backbone than a 50/50?

This is going to be my next brush, the natural horsehair, in the olivewood handle, might be my only birthday present. Love reading these positive threads.

Yes, the scritch will relax some as the brush gets broken-in, the tips will become softer but won't necessarily splay. Using less pressure on your face will lessen the amount of scritch you'll experience. Try a couple of bowl or palm lathers to help soften the tips and reduce scritch, it's also a good way to learn some of the characteristics of any new brush.
