Now half as wise
My new favorite is Liberty's Elysium!

Of course I have a new favorite every few days!

Well, as I tend to keep around 10 pens inked and I like to have an assortment of colors, I don't have any single favorite ink, but I do have favorites in each of the color groups I use.

  • Blues: Private Reserve Black Magic Blue with PR Midnight Blues, Diamine Bilberry and Levenger Cobalt as close runner ups.
  • Reds: Hands down, Diamine Red Dragon is my favorite with Diamine Oxblood and Ancient Copper on the list.
  • Greens: Well, I don't really go for greens as a whole, but Diamine Green/Black is the one
  • Purples: Private Reserve Burgundy Mist and Diamine Syrah are tied for first.
  • Grays: I looked long and hard before deciding on my go-to gray. Noodler's Lexington Gray got the nod since every other gray I tried exhibited some other color tone besides a true gray. I love the way this one looks just like pencil when dry.
  • Blacks: I'm using up my Visconti Black, but will most likely switch to Aurora Black or Levenger Raven Black when the Visconti is gone. The Visconti black shades a tad much for my taste.
  • Browns: Levenger Cocoa has been my brown of choice for years; just the right shade and not too much to the yellow or red tones. Over the last month I've tried several brown samples: Diamine Macassar, Chocolate Brown, and Saddle Brown, Noodlers #41 and Walnut, and Private Reserve Chocolat. Of these, I liked the PR Chocolat and Diamine Saddle Brown as the others were too dark for my tastes. The Noodler's Walnut is really nice though but not enough brown comes through.

Only tried a couple of inks which are Lamy blue, De Atramentis manly scents inks and Noodler's Black Swan in Australian roses.
I really like the Lamy as it works really well and the Black Swan looks amazing and can write well on even crappy paper. De Atramentis inks feathered a lot and were very wet to write with in my Lamy AL-STAR both with the 1.1 and medium nib.

If I was to order only one LAMY ink, what should I get first, Blue or Turquoise? At least until I order the other one....

Blue. It's a classic royal blue, hints of purple. The turquoise is just too girlie for me.

Great choices in this thread so far!

I'm going through a rather intense Pilot/Iroshizuku "Tsuki-Yo" (Moonlight) phase right now. This is an ink that didn't really "wow" me at first, but it really grew on me and just love it!

Today it is Lexington Gray.
And it is going to change soon--I just ordered enough ink to pay the Goulet's cable bill this month.

I really like Noodler's Legal Lapis and Pelikan Blue-black. I'm a sucker for most blue-black inks for some reason.

I only have 3 inks at the moment, a 'Platinum' black (in a cartridge), Noodlers Heart of Darkness & Noodlers Baystate Blue. I'm normally a black ink guy, but the BSB is a really nice color blue & end up my main writing color.

I love BSB, and it drives one of my coworkers crazy- that's a winning combo, IMO

The new semester started for me last week and I've really enjoyed using our own Benevolent Badger Blue. When it first came in the mail, I wasn't sure that I'd use it very often. However, I'm likely going to refill my pen with a second helping of BBB tomorrow after it goes dry (which is a relatively rare occurrence for me.)

I have got to find a color like that! Any suggestions? (I hate most of my coworkers, if you can't tell)
Well, he insists that we must use blue or black, so I picked Bay State Blue- the loudest blue on the planet.
