Cobra Classic Users New Users Comments

Let me chime in here. Just yesterday FedX delivered the cobra classic I won on Ebay. Got it for $132.50. It is in pristine condition in the box with all Feather blades accounted for. My razor line up is Weber. Schick Injector. 39c Slant, Razorock open comb, and the Feather SS straight. I have a moderate beard but it grows fast. I loaded the Cobra with a Feather Pro Guard blade from the pack I have been using with the Feather straight. Lined up the notches and it closed up nice and tight, none of the "play" issues I have read some comments about. Used my tweezerman brush and some Pannacrema and face lathered as usual. Took the Cobra to my face for standard WTG pass. I noticed a lot of feedback as it cut, more so than my DE's. With the blade wider than the DE it makes quick work. I would say I had a good shave on the WTG pass. Followed up ATG, then XTG. I had no cuts, weepers. I will say my face felt a little rawer then using my DE's with same passes. I guess I would compare it to the Feather straight shave, but much more idiot proof. It feels like a quality tool in your hand. Since it's my new kid in the rotation, I'm sure I will use it until the newness infatuation wears off and put it in my rotation. But for now I will use it daily. Any quality DE razor and blade gives a good shave, but I would say the Cobra probably gives a bit of a closer shave (at least for me) than others with the same amount of effort. Glad I purchased it.

Welcome to the club. Continue to enjoy it; it's a great razor!

Can't wait to see if it gets better. Did you get a good lather with the new soap and brush? I will say that most of my feather blades have been great I have had a few that were rougher to shave with. As I am new it may have been me as the razor is in rotation.

It did get better. I took a couple of days off and went back to my trusty Valobra and my shaves have been great ever since....until this morning. I tried the new soap and even though I got a pretty good shave I noticed some minor skin irritation later in the morning. I think the soaps essential oils do not agree with me. I will eek out a couple of more shaves and put a new blade in the end of the week.

Wow you got a great price on eBay. I didn't think to check there but will have to since I intend to gift one or two Cobra Classics.

I had thought about buying a Feather Artist Club razor sometime but since using the Cobra I've decided to wait longer.

I received my Cobra Classic in yesterday's mail, and I used it for the first time today. I got a superb shave, probably one of the best that I've had in 50+ years of using a DE razor. The razor is not for use on days when you're shaky(i.e. hangover, medical issue, etc.), and proper prep and execution are necessary, but what a great shave! No nicks, no cuts, no abrasive feeling. As to quality issues....yes, it is NOT the best finished product that I have ever seen, but I can handle a few casting bumps. The razor is absolutely NOT junk either....it is cast brass, chrome plated, but for the price it should be finished flawlessly! As to changing blades....if you're having that much trouble then perhaps you should be shaving with an electric razor. The handle is a little funky shaped, but nothing really weird. I think I'll really end up liking this razor.

I received a brand new Cobra that I purchased here off the B/S/T. At first I was nervous about the condition of it since the seller said it was still in the wrapping. I was hoping it wouldn't be a bad one that I have read about other users getting. After the first shave I had with it two weeks ago today, I could tell it was the best thing ever for me. My hair grows in all sorts of directions on my neck, which is skinny and I unfortunately have a rather large adams apple. The Cobra make quick work of it all. Best shave I have ever had and the best feel on my neck of any razor I have ever tried. I am already contemplating trying to locate another Cobra as a back-up. I just hope the next one has no flaws in it as this one had.

Congratulations on your Cobra. I think you will find more posts like yours perpetuating the myth of rampant Cobra issues than you will find actual issues.

My cobra with new Feather Pro blades has got me wondering why I went ahead and got an R41 (2013). THe shaves are as close, smoother, and easier.

Use my Cobra virtually every shave when at home. When travelling, I take another razor which I am more willing to chance losing.
My blade choice is the Kai Titan "Pink." The Feather Pro is a close second. Dorco Barber Professional blades are a distant third.
My shaves are generally close and excellent; DFS or better, day in, day out. The choice of soap, not the razor, determines if the shave
is DFS plus or BBS! And , of course, technique too.
For me, the Cobra requires close attention; the blades are SOOO sharp, a tiny misstep could mean breathing without a nose. Weepers
and nicks are far more common than with any of my DE's. But when the shave is good, it's VERY good.
I have plenty of questions and concerns about the design, construction and QC issues, for sure, but that said, the Cobra is one of my
wisest purchases/investments.
Just my $ 0.02 ( and $ 165.00)

I've been shaving with the slants and feather blades for 6 years and have been reading reading about the Cobra pros and cons for about two years. Bought a Cobra last week, and had first shave today. It was great! I agree with all of the positive comments and disagree with all the negative comments posted previously. Now to elaborate:

Quality: The finish on mine is flawless. The blade [feather pro]

Play or blade looseness: The blade fits solidly onto the lower guard shelf, but the guard shelf has considerable up-down movement due to a spring loaded pin at the top of the latch lever that holds the shelf in place. I haven't seen any other mention of this spring pin in other posts.

Handle: Looks good and feels good to use.

Blade change: Easy if you slow down and pay attention to what you are doing.

Me: Tough beard so need sharp blade to cut through. Soft skin so only two passes. Love the Cobra!!
