Clash of the Titans

I find the timing release of the is interesting. Just a couple weekends ago I went to a showing of the original Clash of the Titans that also had a beer tasting session of microbrews before the show. The end result was a somewhat rowdy crowd (packed house, BTW) that made the atmosphere similar to attending a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Well, that's two movies I'd never have thought of comparing. Sounds like a riot of a time.

haven't seen it but a few of the reviews I read gave the 3D effects a thumbs down. although, it sounds like it's better to watch in 2D.

Saw it yesterday, and I wasn't all that impressed. It was okay I guess, but I left the theater thinking "Why did they even bother?".

To those who have seen it: was the theatre showing it in RealD 3D or Technicolor 3D? It should say on the side of your 3D glasses. I am just curious.

I saw in good old 2D and visually it looked great, but like I said the movie was just so-so. I'm sorry but I'm not paying extra money to see something that was up-converted to 3D.

I think alot more movies will now be going to 3D....and the price will continue to go up! I liked Avatar but not everything needs to be in 3D for me to enjoy it or even make it believable. Hell maybe soon enough you will need to put on 3D glasses to watch your TV!

One word came to mind:

Underwhelming.

Badly written lines. The character of Hades was so transparent. Way too much Deus ex machina, even for a Greek mythological movie. Zeus' actions made no sense. He acted contrary to earlier actions constantly with little (read: no) explanation. Poor character development. They set up the god's dependence on man in such a stupid fashion. The explanation was dumb to begin with, and then they hit us in the head with it two more times just to make sure those of us who were listening felt insulted.

Pretty bad movie. My relationship with Hollywood resembles something like battered wife syndrome. I keep returning to Hollywood, swearing it loves me and will entertain me, only to be beaten, robbed of my money, and run out of the theater after 2 hours of torture.

Never mind Clash of the Titans and Avatar, I've never seen a fake Wallace & Gromit film before!

Nice try but nowhere near as good as Nick Park's original W&Gs from Aardman!

Agreed. This was a serious let down. I originally thought it was worth the price of admission, but now not so much. The original was a better movie (plot wise) and the cheesy special effects are what made the original so special. They really didn't need to make this 3D, since they barely took advantage of the media.

Also, "The Kracken" was over-marketed. I was really looking forward to seeing it and the possible fight that would ensue (even though I know the ending). However, the kracken was barely onscreen for 5 minutes and it was gone.

What a jip. Liam Neesam (sp?) (Zeus) and Ralf Fiennes (sp?) (Hades) were the two best actors in the movie and they were barely on screen as well.

On a different note, the demi god that played Ayo (sp?) was very easy on the eyes :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Well, it’s entertaining. If you haven’t seen the original or have any knowledge at all of Greco-roman mythology. There’s the problem, separating the source material from the movie. If you take it for what it is, standard action movie, it’s fairly good. Of course if they did it right it would have been phenomenal, for example the Dollars movies and The Magnificent Seven as remakes of Yojimbo/Sanjuro and The Seven Samurai, respectively.

Technicolor 3D

i would not bother paying for the 3D version if you plan to see it, not a bad movie but having paid a few bucks extra for 3D i was disappointed with the quality. not a bad movie but not a "good" 3D movie in my opinion.

That will probably make it difficult for me. Mythology was one of my favorite classes in school and has been an ongoing interest for me. That said, there were inaccuracies in the original as well. I'm going to try and keep and open mind for this one. I so want it to be good.

Mythology inaccuracies aside, as a movie with story and interest, Clash of the Titans falls short. Save your money and rent it later on.
