ChatGPT to shave like an Icon

Just for fun and a way to find new scent profiles - while acknowledging ChatGPT is pretty flawed in a variety of areas - I asked what items James Bond (my family name is Bond so it’s obligatory as was my purchase of TOBS 😂) would shave with if he were to shave today and this is what I got:

“If James Bond were to shave today, he’d likely opt for high-end, performance-driven products with a touch of classic British elegance. Here’s what I think he’d use:

Razor

  • Henson AL13 or Blackland Blackbird Ti – Bond would appreciate precision engineering and a close, comfortable shave. The Henson AL13’s aerospace-grade aluminum construction and the Blackbird’s aggressive yet refined design suit his no-nonsense approach.

Shave Soap or Cream

  • Geo. F. Trumper Eucris Shaving Soap or Cream – A sophisticated, classic scent with notes of blackcurrant, sandalwood, and musk, fitting for a man of Bond’s style. Trumper is also a renowned British brand, aligning with his heritage.
  • Floris No. 89 Shaving Soap – This was reportedly Ian Fleming’s favorite scent and has been associated with Bond. It offers a refined citrus and woody aroma.

Aftershave

  • D.R. Harris Windsor Aftershave – A perfect mix of traditional and modern, with citrus, pepper, and vetiver, giving Bond an air of confidence.
  • Floris No. 89 Aftershave Balm – If he’s feeling traditional, he’d go with this balm to match his shaving soap.
Given Bond’s meticulous nature and his appreciation for luxury, his choices would be both practical and indulgent.”

I don’t have the inventory to try this but I looked up Floris No. 89 because I haven’t heard of it and am now interested because of its potential tie to Ian Fleming.

I thought this was a fun way to discover something new and unlock some profiles with the vast array of products out there. What do you think, do you agree with the profile?

It would be fun to see your results here too and whether you agree, if you can do it, if you would like to try it, and/or what you think of it if you can do it.

Just type in to the ChatGPT search:

“If _________ were to shave today, what razor, shave soap or cream, and aftershave products would he/she use?”

And post your response and your thoughts/experience.

...but this one IS cracked.

In the books James Bond was very much modelled on Ian Fleming himself. They both liked drink, women and gambling although Bond was a way more successful gambler than Fleming as when on his first posting to, I think, Lisbon during the second world war his colleagues took Fleming to the casino so he could lay eyes on the German intelligence team who congregated there. Against advice he sat down at the baccarat table where the Germans stopped short of taking the shirt off his back.
Anyway Bond favored Floris No. 89 cream and aftershave, also Geo F Trumper Eucris I don't know about the razor, but he was meant to be older and a navy man so likely favored a DE, easier to use on a rolling ship.
In Goldfinger Sean Connery uses a can of shaving foam and a Gillette Slim, however as the Slim was only produced between 1961 and 1968 that would not have been the original razor available to Bond.
In Live and Let Die Roger Moore is seen shaving with again a can of shaving foam and a Schick injector
In that new movie he gets a straight shave with a Dovo... or was it a Boker?
The movie I think you are referring to is Skyfall where he is shaved by Moneypenny where they used a Eucris soap in a wooden bowl and a Dovo razor. There is an interesting article on how they worked out what was used when the props went on display at a shaving shop in London. If the mods don't mind I'll post a link to it or if they do mind they can delete it

I see. Horn Dovos get that spacer rivet like a lot of the high end Bokers. 5/8 round point.

I think there was a thread about this here where someone decided he probably used an Old Type? ... or was it New?

As I remember that thread, there's a passage in one of the books where his razor preference is very vaguely described.
