Vikings at the Gate: Week 3, blade 3, Vinkings Sword Super Stainless.

Friday’s shave went very well. Nothing to report apart from some minor sting when I applied my Alum Block. I just did my usual three passes and left it at that. I do like these Vikings Sword blades so far.

Personna Platinum Chrome Super Stainless Blade 1 Shave 2

Another shave in my '69 Super Speed, and it was much more comfortable than shave 1. This was definitely a DFS+, and only missed BBS status because I didn't do my typical BBS buffing steps.

Shave 5
Blade: Viking
Razor 1954 Tech SuperSpeed
Soap Derby
Brush Silver Tip Badger
Pre-shave Hot Shower
Post Shave Brut

The blade was very smooth, but just not as sharp as I like. Normally (if I am in a hurry I can maybe skip one day if the previous shave was really close). I had to shave today no skip was possible. The blade was very smooth and provided a decent shave. There were no weepers and little skin irritation. The blade performs better with derby soap than my other soap set up. Depending on the price of the blade I might consider its use. For me it lands in between derby and astra. It is smoother than the derby, but not as sharp as the astra. Again it maybe this particular blade. I will try another one to check after this test is done.

All in All not bad.

It's been a few days, but I tossed the Crystal from the Tech and moved on to the Viking. I really liked the Viking Sword in the Milord. For today's shave, I loaded the Viking Sword in the Tech and had a nice Arko cream lather. The shave felt fine, but the results were not that great. Everything below the jawline had leftover stubble. I have a 3 pass routine that generally works well without causing irritation. The Tech just isn't aggressive enough to get that close, but it feels safe enough I don't have to worry about causing damage.

Crystal Blade #2 - Shave #2

Razor - Yaqi Top Aggressive Slant
Blade - Crystal(2)
Brush - Omega 10777
Soap - Arko
A/S - Alum, Thayers Facial Toner, Skin Bracer
Rating - 10/10 BBS

Wanted to use something different today so I loaded up the blade in my Yaqi Slant. This razor takes some getting used to but once you do you would have to be trying to get anything other than a BBS shave with it.

The pre war tech is more aggressive but the chin area is where I notice the Viking underperforming

Pre: Shower, Warm water rinse
Blade: Personna Red
Razor: NDC SuperSpeed
Brush: Semogue 830 Boar
Soap: Maggard Limes & Bergamot
Post: Lukewarm rinse, Humphrey's Toner WH, Nivea PSB

This morning's shave went smooth as silk and delivered another BBS. The 830 and the L&B produced a ton of slick lather to help. Two full passes (XTG & ATG) foloowed by a clean-up buffing pas that covered about 2/3 of my neck.

Vikings at the Gate: Week 3, blade 3, Vikings Sword Super Stainless.

Shave number six on the Vikings Sword Super Stainless blade. Another really good shave this morning, I just did my usual three passes and left it at that. Very happy with the results and very happy with the Vikings Sword Super Stainless blade.

Vikings At The Gate - Viking's Sword (2) - Shave (3)

Pre:
Shower, Warm water rinse, PAA The Cube 2.0
Razor: Gillette Pre-War Tech
Blade: Viking's Sword #2(3)
Brush: SOC Boar
Soap: RazoRock XXX
Post: Lukewarm rinse, Thayers
Splash: Stetson Cooling Moisture

I was able to "trick" the Viking into smoothing out today by placing it in the Pre-War Tech after two days of stropping this week in the Red Tip. I was inspired by @ajkel64 and his English flat bottom and the combination paid off with a fine and easy-going DFS shave. As stated above, the Viking does tend to underperform on the more difficult areas of the chin and moustache, so one must compensate with some extra attention and buffing where necessary. Post-shave was "normal" today with some much appreciated extra "cooling" from the Stetson Cooling Moisture splash.

Blade: Personna Red
Razor: NDC SuperSpeed
Brush: Semogue 2009 LE Boar
Soap: Marke Golddachs Classic

This morning's shave went smoothly and delivered another BBS-.
There were no weepers, nicks or post shave irritation.

At this point each blade has been through eight shaves with good results. Time to start introducing new razors to the mix.

Vikings at the Gate: Week 3, blade 3, Vikings Sword Super Stainless.

Another pretty good shave for shave number seven on the Vikings Sword Super Stainless blade. No blood or irritation but I did have a little more sting this morning when I applied my Alum Block. I am very happy with the Vikings Sword Super Stainless blade after two weeks of shaves with them. I do like them very much.
