Castle Forbes

I think I have tried SMN and ADP and have to admit that SMN is the only one that tops CF. CF in my opinion demands a certain amount of moisture and the margin of error is quite narrow. Too much water and it ends up watery (yet provides a fantastic shave) and too little - you end up with a very dense razor clogging almost butter like consistency cream.

I was at Whole Foods last night and sniffed some cedar essential oil. It was very nice. If that's what the CF cedarwood/sandalwood cream smells like, I think I would like it. I can see a purchase is in order.
You would love it !. I had my doubts initially but when I saw an opportunity to acquire these for about 22 $ (on clearance at one of the stores - no longer available) I got about 8-9 tubs. Sold all the tubs here on BST AT cost...and then kept two for my self. Regret that I did not keep more as I truly love the combination of the subtle sandalwood with cedarwood.
I am about get the Lavender though..if wify approves.

Just out of interest, how much CF would you say you have gotten through in that time?

I have barely made a dent in the cream at all. I use probably a bit of cream that is about the size of half an almond and get 4 passes out of it with lather left over. I have a tub of each scent, Lavendar, Lime and Cedar/Sandalwood. At this rate, I'd be surprised if I need to order more in a year.

The AS balm is pretty economical too. A little bit goes a long way.

I'm a big fan of CF. I load the bush with a couple of swirls from the tub and build my lather in a bowl. It builds very quickly. I think they make a superb product.

Between this thread and the limes thread, you guys convinced me to order the CF limes this morning. Sure hope it's worth the $$ :001_cool:

I don't think you'll be disappointed. And you really have to use so little of it that the tub lasts along time. On a cost per shave basis, it isn't that expensive.

Impossible to be disappointed with this cream. Just remember you only need about half of what you might normally use and you'll still have enough lather for 4 or 5 passes if you so desire. The only cream I possess as I much prefer soaps but this cream is the exception.

I had my first encounter with CF Lime last night. Really easy to lather and as mentioned above, as few swirls in the tub is all it takes. I like a strong lime scent, and this definitely has it more so than the Trumpers lime I tried. I really like the Soca Bomb from Alraz as well, but it takes a little more work to build lather.

That is exactly my opinion, too.
Castle Forbes is simply the very best shaving cream available on the market.
Truly outstanding.
It can't compare.

I use the CF Lavender shave cream with the CF Lavender after shave. I have sensitive skin and pretty use anything that has the lavender essential oils.

I'm on the rotation, last week was lavendar cream with lavendar as balm. This week is going to be the lime and lime as and then I'll move onto the cedar/sandalwood. Still hard to say which is my favorite. They are all great, IMO.

You guys are making me want to buy the Lavender Cream and Aftershave Balm!!!!

I already use the CF Lime Cream and Lime Aftershave Balm regularly :) Paired with Trumper's Lime Skin Food its awesome for an all around limey shave!

I picked up some CF lime and Lavender. Have to say that I was expecting more from all the rave reviews. Don't get me wrong, it's a great cream but I don't know if it justifies the extra cost.

If you measure it on a cost per shave basis, it isn't really expensive. I use half as much of this cream as any other for the same amount of lather.

I have been shaving with Castle Forbes exclusively for about 3 weeks now. I have not found a soap or cream that compares to CF for lather and comfort. I really love the scents as well. At first I wasn't sure about the Cedar and Sandalwood but it has really grown on me.

I like the AS balms as well. They are very soothing.

+1

I get better results with sandalwood than with limes. Maybe the lime is more acidic or something?

YMMV.
