Brut with Aloe? Anyone Try This?

I am saying, I don't know, but my current bottle feels different on my face than my previous. It is not quite as harsh, so it feels to me that either they took it out or changed the amount.
Something seems different about AV in recent years for sure. Back when I started using it, when it was still in glass, it was far stronger and richer, and the menthol was powerful - would make my fingers freeze. Today, while I recognize the familiar AV scent at first, once applied it disappoints me. Sad.

Well, the last time I used Aqua Velva before the new unopened bottle I got the other day was in 2020 during Covid lockdown. I live in FL so we could go out for essentials and I got a bottle and it would freeze my fingers for a few hours. I wonder if the one I got now made in 2024 would do the same? I would also buy it when it was last in glass bottles which was around for me 2007-2010, I'd get the bottles from Kmart and sometime in 2010 they switched to plastic but it was still very potent.

OK, I'll check later tonight when I get home. I bought a new bottle at Target over a week ago and I haven't opened it yet. I mean if it still has menthol you'll feel the icy coolin

I confirmed it still has menthol.

So I actually used the new Brut with aloe on my head today after a nice close shave, it burns as much as the H/O/T formula but it's not as repulsive with the Anise note. I do smell a strange rubbery or plastic note now that wasn't there before, and also it doesn't have menthol listed in the ingredients anymore just aloe and castor oil, but a few mins after applying I felt a cool breeze like feeling on my head. Maybe it still has menthol but it isn't listed?

I posted about the Brut new bottle a while back: Brut Classic After Shave new bottle - https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/threads/brut-classic-after-shave-new-bottle.652499/

However, it wasn't specifically aimed at the Aloe version. For what it's worth, I still did not see that bottle up north (Canada). I only have access to the regular Brut Splash-on.
I know, I read your post on that thread before I posted on this one. According to Pyrgos an expert fragrance expert the current Brut is not the same as last year's one.

Thank you very much for the detailed response. Although you say it's weaker, but on this same post some users claimed that it's better and lasts longer than the Helen Of Troy version. I wonder which version has the most powdery vanilla notes, the Cologne, aftershave, or splash on?
Jesse, go get a bottle of the classic and masculine, they are all Brut. Don't be surprised if you find the masculine to your liking, I actually prefer it now. It lacks the stank that many Brut users gripe about. Most powdery vanilla notes, I'd go with the latest Brut classic cologne splash?the current All splash lotion can be too much. There are times for me it varies, depends on application amount.I could be all wrong, even though I wear some kind of Brut daily. They are each a bit different, but those around you will know you have Brut on, and could know less which one you have on.

Masculine? Which version is that? I find that the current after shave with aloe has the best potency, it's not as strong as the cologne which I despise, and it's stronger than the splash on without being overpowering.

According to them on Facebook they claim that they haven't reformulated anything, this is what they told me:

Hi Jesse. Yes, we have reached out to our formulators. Once we get a response, we will follow up with you.

We can confirm that no changes have been made to the menthol concentration in Aqua Velva Ice Blue.

I got mine at alocal supermarket. The local Walmart sometimes has both aftershaves, and the stick deo. They also have a face moisturizer, a body wash, stick deo, and a wide stick ap deo. I live in Nebraska, farm country supreme, and this Brut seems everywhere out here. And this masculine has Aloe and menthol. I for one love this, milder thanthen classic Brut. Woodier, some mild warm spice,, all the while You're classic Brut is in there.the vanilla powder is vague,, but to me its there.Amazon has these products too. For the blast of vanilla powder you dig, my thought is All purpose lotion, and perhaps a lesser extent, Classic Splash cologne, which is out there.

Ah ok, Brut has been reformulated since then. Now only the classic is available and it still has aloe but the menthol has been replaced with castor oil.

I can confirm this. I cracked open a new bottle of AV I got back in early October, and I hadn't used AV in a long time. It still has a decent menthol kick but it's nothing compared as to before, it used to be so potent I'd almost have tears from the intensity, I would also get goosebumps from how cold it would feel, and my hands would be freezing cold for a few hours. I still felt a bit of razor burn after applying it now, but back in the day it would get rid of any razor burn I'd have.

But they also changed the scent a bit it's a tad weaker but still strong, but I smell a cheapened/sweetened floral note in there, that smells sort of plastic or synthetic?

It's still a solid after shave overall but not what it once was.

I just confirmed this.
