Brush recommendation for face lathering?

Is there a particular type of brush that is better suited for face lathering?
I'm a newbie and currently using a Tweezerman brush; I'll soak the brush while I shower, load the brush on the soap, and then face lather.

Right now I plan on sticking w/ face lathering but who knows down the road...
I'd like to step up my brush quality a bit without going too crazy - $40 range doable? What's best for face lathering.

BTW - Currently getting into shaving w/ SE blades; just recently acquired an OCMM and waiting on an Ever-Ready 1912.

Invest a little bit more and take one of the cheaper Simpsons in best: 55, Case, Duke 1, Berkeley 46, Colonel. You can't go wrong with any of them.

+1 to 620 for a bang-for-buck boar.
Or $9.95 assembly, $19 bucks for a 20mm handle and about the same pricd for a best badger knot from The Golden Nib (TGN). All up a little more than budget but worth it for a custom job; set height about 1:2 or 1:2.2 for face lathering in the comments section and the boys will do the rest (a 20mm knot about 44mm feels perfect for me and I exclusively face lather).
The Simpsons mentioned above will also do the job.

Don't forget the possible option of the new synthetics such as EJ/Muhle. My budget Muhle HJM black fibre ($25 shipped, from Connaught) has been excellent for face lathering, using soaps (including MWF, D.R. Harris, Tabac, Pre de Provence, and more). It's very soft on the face but dense enough to stand up to hard soaps. Other threads give excellent reviews--as always, YMMV--to the more expensive versions, as well as to other brands (Frank's, etc.).

Simpsons Case is about as close to your price as possible in a decent face lathering brush

I bought one of these (on sale for $40) and tried it for the first time today, seems to be just right for face lathering and good value (I think I saw these on eBay for $45)
