I always look forward to the FFFMM. Recently I started rotating boar brushes in my kit. The remaining three elements remain locked. Last month I’ve obtained an OC 127 base plate for the Lupo. Great timing this is the second shave on the Open Comb 127. I’ll have four more weekly Sunday shaves this month introducing it to the kit. It will be locked with my Feather blade and SV Felce Aromatica soap going forward. My transition from the OC 95 too the OC 127 was mostly seem-less. I had a light touch with the 95. The 127 requires a Super Ultra Light Touch. I had also adjusted my shave strokes where I’d incorporated a little buffing in the stroke. That’s been eliminated and I’m back to a short quick triple stroke. This afternoon’s face and head shave An ATG Single Pass was ultra close and ultra smooth. There is no substitute for efficiency. These last two shaves with the OC 127 are the closest ever in over half a century of shaves. The 127 has a massive blade feel to the strokes. No auto pilot no day dreaming no mistakes allowed. Carefully placed methodical strokes will reward you with an exquisite ultra close comfortable shave. I’m loving the Lupo with the big bite.

The Boti White Haired Weng Boar Bristle Bule Knot 30mmx40mm set in a Boti acrylic handle is more pig than boar. It is by far the stiffest brush I’ve used. Doesn’t compare to any other brush I’ve used. I have been methodically working on it to break it into an acceptable softness. For the last couple of months. Today’s first shave with it had me hand lathering the soap because of the stiffness. It literally inhales soap from the puck and it promptly disappears. The hand lathering did bring some useable lather to the tips. Tip lathering only. If I tried to splay this animal it surely would induce pain and discomfort. Four more shaves with it and I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to make a noticeable improvement with flexibility or softness. When a hair does split the tip soon breaks off. The hairs are extremely stiff. The lathering this month will be spare with little comfort or pleasure. I will continue to beat on the knot during the week between shaves. I’ve definitely met my match with this rogue boar. It will be on a back shelf when the month is over. I’ll hang in there for the month. More out of interest and curiosity than anything else.
