Brass razors

Long ago family has some Sterling Sliver Serving Pieces, and Flatware. My mother only used on special holidays, and had a solution in glass bottle to remove tarnish, it turned rags Black. You could DIP Flatware in to solution, and it came out tarnish free. Silver Polish was next step to making everything shiny.

Know they use to advertise something one TV that was instant tarnish remover, should work on Brass, Copper, Bronze, or Sliver.

Yeah, but can you put that in an ultrasonic parts cleaner? Or is it a petroleum distillate or in some other way flammable?

That was me. I received this brass Karve CB in pristine condition from the seller. Cleaned it up when it arrived and put it into a Barbacide bath. Forgot about it, (we all know how life happens) for 24 hours, more like 30 hours. When I fished it up out of the Barbacide, this is what it looks like now. View attachment 1904506
I like keeping everything shiny but that actually looks pretty cool!
It looks better to me than standard patina which I totally dislike.
Unintended consequence, but no doubt a unique one! 👍

AKA: forced patina.

Have you tried polishing it?...or do you like it like that?
I have not tried polishing it. And no, I don't really like it like that. I'm at a crossroads. I don't really want to fuss over it, and possibly damage it with Brasso or Bartender's Friend. It shaves like greased lightning, so I don't want to get rid of it. Wouldn't bother me if the razor stayed that way from now on. I'll probably keep it this way. Heck, if I wanted one in pristine condition, they make 'em every day. So there's another reason to just leave this one alone.

Can the original shiny look be preserved by applying some sort of coating,
Yes and even can be reversed!
Any good brass polish. I use Wenol (German made version) or Flitz!
Apply, leave for 30 seconds, rub it in with a clean cloth (and q-tips for hard to reach places), then use another
clean cloth to remove it and then a third clean cloth to polish it. It'll look as it did on day 1!

I had posted a while back in a previous thread about how I keep my brass Karve CB razor shiny with a Barkeeepers Friend followed by Flitz. It works well but it's a bit of a bother so I looked for some other solutions. For a while I used toothpaste and an old toothbrush. That's quite effective if you don't have any significant water spots. My latest find is Weiman's Silver Wipes. You can just tear off a tiny piece, clean the razor, rinse in warm water and buff dry. No mess, no objcetionalbe odor, and so far excellent results. See pics below.
