Bowls and scuttles

I just received my Jay's Clay bowl yesterday.

Nice looking bowl. I really like the textured sides. Does anyone know of any other makers of bowls with textured sides and/or bottoms? I have to imagine that they help build up lather.

What exactly is a bill bowl and what makes it different from other bowls? Couldn't figure it out by looking at it.

I think it's the inverted thumb loop for holding it securely in the palm.

Used my new Robert Becker scuttle for the first time. I picked it up from Robert last week while I was traveling in San Antonio (really nice guy btw!) which saved shipping and made the $32 price all the better.

What? He is in San Antonio? I just moved to San Antonio. I will have to do a web search and see what all he has to offer. I don't have any use for a scuttle, but I do want a nice lathering bowl.

This thread inspired me to get a Robert Becker scuttle and I ordered one yesterday. He indicated he was only accepting a handful of new orders and then taking a break for a while. So if you want to get one, I would urge you to do so soon.

This is what I've been using so far. Just picked up a red ceramic cereal bowl from WAlmart for $2 that I'll use for my Stirling soap. See how that works. Can't wait to get my Robert Becker scuttle.

I really like the idea of lather bowls with textured interiors. I have to believe that would help to build up a nice lather. Has anyone done any experimenting to compare the results between textured and smooth bowls? Enquiring minds want to know...
