What's new

Bought a winter hat

I was browing the 'net looking for a decent winter hat, as my head is getting cold (and colder when I shave it!). I have a running nylon/fleece baseball cap, but it doesn't really have much style. OK, it's ugly but it gets the job done.

Anyway, I saw a rather unusual hat that struck me as stylish and functional. http://www.ebay.com/itm/25133278055...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I haven't work a shearling-lined hat in . . . well, ever. Hopefully it's not too hot and not too cold.

So you have not bought a hat yet? your post heading says you bought one.

Sorry, I thought I mentioned it above - I bought the black one from the pic above.

I thought it was an unusual and cool enough design to post - I don't care for how I look with the usual winter fleece hats, with or without the pom-pom on top. :biggrin1:

I'm hoping the shearling isn't too warm (or not warm enough!).

why not go for a Harris tweed cap? I just bought a Failsworth and it's incredible, never knew my head was cold before now

why not go for a Harris tweed cap?

Checked a few out - not bad, but I prefer leather over tweed. Shearling is fine, but for some reason woven wool just makes me itch. Even Smartwool socks. Part of that is probably psychological, but I don't own anything with wool that isn't shearling.

Plus, the cap has a vaguely military air which is a new look for me. The closest I've been to the military is driving by an Army base, or seeing Army vehicles on the highway. Or the Army base in town with a real Sherman tank on the lawn. Pretty cool, actually.

For some reason, my shearling slippers are just peachy. Speaking of which, where the @%^% are they . . .
