I've seen a thread here about what the blade height sizes are and how they are measured but I'm curious as to what blade height you SE Gents prefer. I am torn between a 5/8 and a 6/8. I own two 7/8 and while I don't mind shaving with them, they are a little cumbersome under the nose and on the lip. What are your preferences and why?

That's a great point. I am fairly new to SE shaving and I think it is just a matter of needing to see everything I can
at this point. The smaller blade seems more maneuverable due to my inexperience. I believe that with more time and shaves under my belt, it will become more about feel and confidence.
Probably a 6/8 or so because it is easier to strop and shave with. 4/8 can be really fun to shave with but a little tricky to strop. 8/8 look cool, also fun to shave with, but tricky to get all the normal angles.

6/8 or almost any 13/16 Japanese blade.
I prefer 8/8ths - 10/8ths. I have no issues using a larger blade. My beard is heavy and coarse and the shave is just better for me when the blade weight helps to aid in the shave. I will say however, I can shave with anything but the smaller blades 4-5/8ths simply feel toyish now in comparison.
