Blade Wars: Personna Israeli Red vs. Personna Med Prep

Shave 2
face lathered with Maca Root
blue=right, silver=left

On the first two passes the silver razor was a little smoother than the blue, which felt a little prickly. On the third pass, the blue did a better job. The silver had a little more resistance.

Verdict: tie

Followed with Old Spice and Bulldog balm.

Shave 3
silver=right, blue=left
Face lathered with TOBS Grapefruit

A leader emerges.

On the first pass, the silver blade was a little smoother than the blue one. It also cut through the hairs on my chin more easily.

The second pass was terrific, both blades were very smooth and effective.

On the third pass, the silver had gentle, even resistance throughout - a very pleasant feel. The blue had noticeably more drag.

Followed with homemade lemon/orange splash, a splash of Thayer's Lemon, and Nivea Sensitive balm.

advantage: silver

Shave 4
Face lathered with Tabac
silver=right, blue=left
two days of growth

There was a noticeable difference in the two blades on the first pass. The silver razor was smooth and felt sharp. The blue razor tugged. It didn't feel as sharp as silver. Both razors gave me a smooth, comfortable second pass. I intended to do a third pass, but there was no need. After two passes with these aggressive razors and the high-quality blades that are in them, I have a very clean shave.

Followed up with the last few drops of Old Spice in my bottle. Advantage: silver

The suspense is killing me.! The Israeli Red worked OK for me but, not well enough to order 100 of them. I never have tried a Med Prep.

Shave 5
Face lathered with AOS Sandalwood
blue=right, silver=left

Great first pass by both razors. I had a day and half of stubble, and they both cut through it smoothly and effectively.

The second pass was also great, but silver felt just a tiny bit smoother - it seemed to glide just a little more effortlessly.

On the third pass, the blue cut through with very little resistance. The silver had noticeably more drag, so the advantage on this shave goes to BLUE.

Followed up with some brand new Old Spice and Lubriderm 3-in-1 moisturizer.

Shave 6
A nice three-pass evening shave.
For a pre-shave, I wet my face and spread a dab of Nivea Men Sensitive cream on my face and then applied a hot washcloth. After that I face lathered with Arko and a boar brush.
silver=right, blue=left

The first pass with the silver razor was excellent. It was quite smooth. I wouldn't say the blade felt particularly sharp. It had what I can best describe as a "rounded" feel - something I first felt several years ago with Lab Blues. The first pass with the blue razor was even better. It was just as smooth, but the cutting felt more crisp and clean.

The second pass was also excellent, with the silver feeling just a little cleaner - it glided just a bit more easily.

The third pass was equally superb with both razors. Very little resistance.

Followed with Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum and a rub of Lubriderm moisturizer. This is a good shave. Really good.

Slight advantage: blue

Shave 7
Face lathered with Proraso Red
Blue=right, silver=left

I had another wonderful shave with these blades. Two passes, both smooth and clean. No significant differences to report.

Tie

Followed with a splash of Pinaud VI Bay Rum. I have a close, irritation-free shave.
