Barrister and Mann Soaps and Samples Have Arrived!!

Would love to see a synopsis of your thoughts on each scent once you’ve run through them all. Seems like you’re getting close.

Barrister and Mann Spice: really nice soapy floral smell. Definitely smells different after bloom and lather compared with the dry sample. Pairs really well with Fine Italian Citrus aftershave. Of the more soapy, barbershop, traditional smelling soaps I'd say this one is my favorite.

No Leviathan or eigengrau ought to be a crime!!! but this is a great lineup with quite a few homeruns imo. Omnibus is one of the best bases in the biz too.
Ugh, I just saw Will post elsewhere that as of now he's not planning on bringing Eigengrau back
That may have been in one of his previous posts at some point, but seeing it just now made me think of this thread.

Now that I've gone through the entire sample batch some observations:

The soap across all the samples I tested really lathers well and provides a slick and very dense lather that is a joy to use.

My favorite scents, I tend not to like more traditional and floral soapy scents as much as fruity and citrus, just a personal preference:

Waves: by far my favorite. I tend to like more modern smells, with light citrus notes.
Le Grand Chypre: another favorite, has an unusual scent that I really like.
Muir (e) Wood: Sweet earthy smell.
Cologne Russe: Nice and spicy, not too floral or traditional smelling.

More traditional scents: Bay Rum, Seville, Fougere Classique, Spice, Lavender, Lavanille, Cool, Cheshire.

You can't go wrong with any of these soaps. It just comes down to personal preference on scent. All lather incredibly well with both badger and sythetic brushes. Will definitely be buying a few tubs.

Will has a habit of declaring he will never make X scent again only to bring it back in a new base later on. One exception, Le Petit Chypre. First released as a budget soap the Latha line, it only came back once as a Soft Heart soap which he stated would be single run soaps. Granted Hallows also had a Soft Heart release but that has always been a Halloween seasonal.

These never to be made again soaps tend to be my favorites. Baudelaire from West Coast Shaving has been a one and done seasonal from other stores. Not sure what that means for the line. I still have plenty in Excelsior base so I am not quick to get it in the new base. I have hallows multiples in four bases. Fool me once Will.

I worry about Cologne Russe. He has hinted at dropping it in the past. Then again I haven't bought it since the base before Excelsior.

Probably my favorite scent from B&M. I know he’s recently talked about discontinuing it. Though the current omnibus base seems to have a graham cracker scent to it to me
I really liked the Reserve base, and, stocked on Fern as soon as said it was going away. Cologne Russe was my second soap from him in 2016. I forget what base that was. It came before Excelsior... I thought I bought it on Amazon, but, I must not have as it remembers Le Petit Chypre, but, not Cologne Russe. Oh well. I liked it very much as I have most of the ones with his version of Muoss de Saxe notes.
