B&B's Blade Bonanza - 2025 - Top-Tier Blades Edition

Lovely shave with the Perma-Sharp, using a Diamondback and a Konsul. The Blade was a good fit for the Paradigm, but a great fit for the Konsul. Both razors got my face to BBS-, but the Diamondback took longer, resulting in a bit more alum feedback:

Perma-Sharp. - 4th shave on this blade
RR GC .76

My current favorite blade just continues to deliver. No problems at all plus I might have found my sweet spot for the GC with the .76 plate.
I don't see any reason why I couldn't just ride this blade for this week as it's showing no indication of performance loss.

2 shaves done and tonight will be my last (3) shave with the perma-sharp. It doesn't feel as sharp as the BIC or Nacet. It still works all right, but there's a slight pull while shaving.

There was slight tugging around the Adam's Apple and I found ATG under the chin had a bit more resistance than the last shave. I am binning the blade. I will be using a fresh blade for my next shave. There was a little more alum feedback but still within acceptable limits.

@spacemonkey42 The second shave was the best out of the 3 shaves on this blade for me. I don't think it is as consistent as a Nacet for sharpness. The second shave Permasharp performed how Nacets perform for the 3 shaves I use them for. 🤷‍♂️

Not much more to say than the Perma-Sharp is one of the best blades for a reason. I keep getting great shaves with it.

I'm now thinking it feels a tad bit sharper than the Nacet. Previously I thought they were about the same. @Luc finds otherwise, how about the rest of y'all?

I can't detect a real difference, but I have too many variables at play like razors and soaps. I would not be surprised if Perma-Sharps proved to be a bit sharper, however it's too minute of a specification change for me to worry about it.

In my opinion the real delta between the two blades are Nacets can be obtained much more cheaply and this can be a factor if one is the one-and-done type.

Enjoy your shave today!

Had a fine shave this morning. The bonanza has encouraged me to really exercise my den! Today, I did a split shave with a day-4 BIC CPs loaded into an OC Tatara with Nodachi cap and Masamune baseplate (Nodamune), and a Timeless OC 68. while this may not match the Feather in Sharpness or build quality, it is a great blade in well clamped mild to mid-aggression razors

Today’s shave was no exception. Both razors provided BBS- shaves with minimal facial impact. The CP is an excellent choice for either razor. I would note that the comb on the Timeless OC68 is sweet, and puts itself ahead of the Nodamune in my ranking.

Shave #1 - Gillette Perma-Sharp (blade 2)
Game Changer .76
Tcheon Fung Sing Almond

I used a fresh blade in an attempt to answer that question about which is sharper: Perma-Sharp or Nacet. Still no real conclusion I can make subjectively, but I can assert a new Perma-Sharp is one of the treats of the wet shaving world. I had a wonderful effortless session. We often say you should pair a sharp blade with a mild razor and yes, sir, this is the recipe.

I need to update here. I have moved onto a different razor / blade combo with week, but I got 4 decent shaves from my Gamechanger / Permasharp combo.

That's a great result for me.

Back when I used Feathers pretty much all the time, Permasharps were my other choice. I always liked them but this little experiment is confirming my high opinion of them. I am glad I have a few hundred in store!

I know that they have gone up in price recently but there is still one long-standing UK shave supplier where they are £12 / 100. A bargain for a blade of such quality. The performance / value ratio is surely one of the best out there?

The shave was completed yesterday without any issues. I used a Gillette Super Speed with a fresh Perma-Sharp blade. The shave was okay but nothing more. The pulling is still present while shaving.

Had a lovely shave with a pair of Hensons: The ++ and the +++. Once again, the Perma-Sharp was an excellent fit for both razors, though a better fit for the +++. Both sides of my face were BBS- after the shave, nut the +++ was more efficient and, as a result, caused a little less feedback on the Alum.

Notes: I took a chance to shave with a Kai over the weekend. I enjoyed the shaves quite a bit. That said, the Perma seems to hang with it well.

It has been a wee bit since I used the Gillette Old. Since I got the New Long Comb it tends to get the lion's share of shaves when I want to use a vintage OC. That's a mistake I need to rectify. What a lovely shave today. The Old is not super aggressive, but it certainly can shine when paired with a sharpish blade. The BBS was easy to come by with very little touchup needed.
