Atelier Durdan La Faulx handle

I like the look of the La Faulx head and by all accounts its performance is excellent, but I'm nor sure about the handle. It follows the modern trend of being fairly large and heavy, and it doesn't delight my eye when I look at at. Also, I wonder how easy it is to grip. So, I was wondering whether any La Faulx owners pair the head with another handle, possibly a smaller and/or lighter one, and how well this works. Or does the handle "grow" on the owner, so it becomes an essenal elements of the razor?

I am getting the LFaulx and the No 7 on Thursday, and will use both with the same handle that I custom selected based upon size and weight. I will report back to you on the combinations as I try them.
As long as the metal is the same, I would think the aesthetics will be fine,

I have 2 La Faulx razors: one in premium polished bronze; the other in basic polish stainless steel.... I only bought one handle... the polished bronze handle and stand. It's beautiful, but as you say, heavy. I did use it a few times but now, I have a Wolfman hollow 90mm 3/7 with H2 knurling attached to the bronze head.... I like handles weighing around 40 grams or so... That handle is perfect for the La Faulx, at least, for me.

I bought the polished SS La Faulx head only the second time around. I have it paired with a Timeless Ti Crown handle. I'm very familiar with this handle as I use it on all my stainless steel and hybrid razor heads. I have several Timeless razor heads... all what I call hybrid, as you can mix and match the caps and base plates to get the look and weight you enjoy. Anyway.... I have 11 Timeless Ti Crown handles with either titanium or bronze stands.

The SS La Faulx and the Ti Crown match up perfectly for me.

I just started using my Stainless La Faulx with a Timeless Crown handle. It's only been one shave so far, so too soon to know if I'll keep it this way or go back to the original handle. I don't mind the weight of the La Faulx handle, but have mixed feelings about how the overall design feels in my hand, so that's why I'm trying others just to see if I prefer it mated with something else. So far the Crown handle seemed to work well and it certainly looks great.

I've only used the satin handle which was fairly substantial in weight. Balance is skewed towards the handle for sure. Grip was good but it was the sandblasted version. It pairs with other lighter matching handles and worked very well. If I had a Vestige handle in a matching finish/metal I'd definitely try it with the La Faulx head.

Or order the hollow handle?

I should note.... I have developed a fondness for the balance of my razors to be towards the razor head.. not the handle. It is totally subjective and applies to my preferences only..... But there are several people here who enjoy the same thing.

Others feel like switching out the handle is heretical... I'm not among them, obviously. <eg> evil grin

I gifted my Brother, La Faulx + and out of all my handles including crown ti he chose the Razorock Halo Ti handle. It looks actually really good and has an amazing balance. I will look into that option. Crown handle Ti looks great too. I have the Ti La Faulx ++ with its original Ti handle, great balance but Ti Crown is just as good for me.

Actually I have a Crown handle in the matte finish. It might work well with the La Faulx sandblasted finish.
I asked Jeremiah at Timeless about hand polishing the Ti Crown in the matte... I wanted to match it to my Claymore Evolution in matte.... When I use Simichrome and hand polish, every time I use it the handle color lightens up just a bit.... I was able to get it to match almost perfectly.... But I do have a dedicated Ti Crown matte for it. I just wanted mention it in case it ends up being a dedicated handle for your La Faulx.

Both Alpha Viper 95 and RazoRock Halo Titanium 100 work really well. I never bothered getting the original handle.

I have some Peek metal polish which is only very mildly abrasive. That could work to lighten up the matte Crown handle.
