What's new

Arriving in one week.

We just received confirmation that The Admiral ought to arrive by January 18. This one has been long awaited and we do get inquiries about it. Keep an eye on our store at the end of the week - fingers crossed!

Link here for more information. And yes, it is oh so hard to truly capture it in a picture.

Forgot to mention, this lather bowl is made from the same heavy gauge copper as our Heavyweight. The difference is the extra time spent bringing it to a high shine like you see here. Then the brass thumb rest is affixed for just the right visual contrast. It is a beauty.

May I ask a dopey question? What is the crocodile like cutter like thing on the shelf behind? :w00t:
Great question, not dopey at all. That is our roll of brown packing paper you see in the background. The crocodile looking thing in front of it is what tears off the paper. To dispense, you pull the paper through the narrow channel which bunches it together for better cushioning. After it is pulled through you need to cut it off. The "teeth" of the crocodile is what does it. Here are a few pics to give you a better idea.

I love it and we have been using this system for many years now. At the beginning we used packing peanuts that were biodegradable. This is a big step up in convenience and is also more environmentally responsible. In fact, after we upgraded to this I thought I would see if we could cut out using bubble wrap. We used it to cushion each bottle of aftershave being shipped and never had a problem. Why fix something if it is not broken? Because if it works to cut out the plastic bubble wrap that is a good thing and it will help keep costs in line to switch to paper packing. What I did not know is if the bottles would break.

Soooo, I got out a pair of dice and rolled 'em! We began shipping our bottles with no plastic bubble wrap and - honestly - I kind of held my breath. That has been years ago now with no issues whatsoever. A bottle of aftershave, when properly wrapped with cushioning paper, will arrive just fine. Per shipping regulations each bottle must ship in its own plastic bag since it is liquid and considered a dangerous good. It also has to ship Ground, never via Air due to the alcohol content. So there are hurdles to jump over in order to be compliant and responsible, that is life.

More than you asked, but I hope that helps.

Satisfied my curiosity and very interesting, thank you I enjoyed that. I spent a fair bit of time in Logistics, loved getting to know people, look at their individual jobs/trades and ask questions, I saw many and varied professions from funeral homes to cafe's, corporate offices, mechanics, blacksmiths and anything in between. If you don't ask you won't know. :001_cool:
