Leaning towards natural at the moment but open at the minute to synths
I don't have to tell you that synths are probably the easier way to go.

That said, I absolutely adored my Les Latneuses Coticule and unlike some others it didnt take me any time to figure it out.
If you can find a or more naturals from a trusted seller, you'd be set for life.

Best of luck finding your stone(s)!

First shave of April yesterday
Opted to choose components that would complement the warm spell currently being experienced in 🇬🇧

Pre-Shave: Hot Shoeer
Brush: QED Select 3526 Silvertip Badger
Razor: Re-Scaled Gotto 120 Superfine straight
Soap: Razorock Lime

Post-Shave
Alum Block
Myrsol Agua de Limon splash
Castle Forbes Lime ASB
T&H West Indian Limes Cologne

A very refreshing and comfortable shave with this lot. On to the next one

@Doti B I may have asked before, in my head I did, but it's a mess in there at times.
I see you're an Arsenal fan, how do you like Trossard?

I'm Belgian, but I'm no Trossard fan. 😅
He ok does a good job for the team.
On a side note thinking of heading to Brussels for a long weekend. Are there any shaving related places worth visiting ?

Uggh I'm afraid I don't know and quite possible that there's nothing worth mentionning. There's a small shave shop in Antwerp, but I wouldn't bother with the extra travel time. They sell coticules though, messenwinkel.eu .
But you're in restraint, so I'm not going to try and trick you into a purchase.
They have 10 percent off this week though... 😇

I think Martinelli's the better player btw.

Me too

34C with an Astra SP
G5 Scuttle
badger knot from TGN in a vintage handle
AOS lemon tallow
4711 Portugal ASL

The puck of AOS Lemon is nearing the end in a Body Shop tin. It's high in the walls and thinning all around. It is so well hydrated that a damp brush needs only those mythical 5-10 swirls to pick up enough soap for a three pass shave. Really great soap.

MULCUTO APRIL SHAVE

MUSIC: Combat Rock by The Clash, 1982.

Three Days Whiskers

PRE-SHAVE:

- Hot Shower

- Proraso Pre-Shave Cream Cypress and Vetyver (IT)

BOWL: Aluminium (PT)

SOAP: Buly Crème Pogonotomienne (FR)

BRUSH: Geo F Trumper Two Wood Three Band Silvertip, 24 mm (GB)

SR: Mulcuto Solingen Schrägschnitt (D)

"Schrägschnitt" means Oblique Cut.

This particular model is from the 1940s, WW2 time.

Many slants torsion the blade to get the oblique effect. And the two safety bars of those razors are mirrored, absolutely opposed.

Here it's the top cap which has a screw implanted in an oblique manner that determines the oblique anatomy of the base plate. The blade is minimally stressed and only anteroposteriorly curved as it happens in normal Safety Razors. It is not submitted to a torsion effect. The safety bars from both sides are aligned and not simetrically opposed.

The top cap has a lateral crest that must match a similar one on the baseplate for a correct unit mounting.
The top cap has an unequal elevation that facilitates the maintenance of the obliquity as one rides the cap.

The faceted handle permits only the sufficient grip, nothing spectacular.
The weight of the razor leans toward the head.

The whole SR looks like comming out of a medieval blacksmith's forge. An apparent primitive design that gained an innovation prize for the brand in 1932 at an exhibition in London.

This razor shaves very safely with a very feeble blade feel - it's unimaginably smooth.
It's advisable to ride the cap to keep the correct angle. The whole utilization is very intuitive.

Due it's high top cape it can be a bit awkward under the nose. But there you can go easily ATG if the shaving angle is respected. In matter of fact it's one of the few razors I go ATG under the nose with no problem.

A two pass shave is more than enough plus some retouches (few). An amazing 80 y.o. "rasierapparat", efficient since the day it was born.

Note: Originally this razor came with dual edge blades, dual cut. Vorrasur (Pre Shave) and Nachrasur (Post-Shave).
So the same blade had two edges with different class efficiency.

BLADE: Gillette Platinum Vintage (ENG) (2) -

Awesome!

POST-SHAVE:

- 444 Alum-Block (PT)

- Cella Lozione Dopobarba (IT)

- Cosmia Men After-Shave Balm (FR)

THE SHAVE:

Very efficient Two Pass Shave with little blade-buffing. A 10/10.
Perhaps the best shave of the year until now. If BBS exists than this is it!

Day 6, 20% complete

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Lather: Palmolive Stick, made into a puck
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC1.05 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #10
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

Palmolive day again, and it really does give fancier soaps a run for their money. Another easy DFS, but time for a fresh blade.
