Apex by Aylsworth Razors

It’s definitely not similar to the overlander, much more efficient, little more dangerous. I can’t shave with it everyday, but if I have more than 24 hours growth then it’s great, really mows it down. I’d compare it to a Henson aggressive, it’s probably more efficient than even that. Overlander is much more mild.

Love both overlander and apex, apex is quite amazing in its ability to feel like a medium razor while being way more efficient than the bladefeel suggests.

I call my Apex Overlander Plus.

Does anyone have both the stainless steel and aluminum and could compare the two? I just noticed that the blade exposure and gap are smaller on the aluminum.

Have both will start a thread on it soon. Short answer is the Aluminum is significantly less efficient. Because of how light it is, I'm still figuring out how much pressure to use and it's resulting in some nicks.

I recently acquired the stainless Apex and really enjoy it. An underrated razor that seems to fly under the radar. Excellent and flawless machining on mine. Definitely more efficient than my Overlander. I place efficiency between a Karve D and E plate. Slightly more than my Kopparkant+ even though they share the same gap/exposure.

I'd love to see a Ti version of the Apex. (nudge, nudge Kaleb)

That'd be interesting, a Ti version. Maybe he'll make it right inbetween the AL and SS in terms of blade gap and exposure.

I think the SS Apex is perfect as far as blade gap/exposure and shaving characteristics. My preference is a bit less weight... that's just me.

If anything, I'd like to see one more plate offered for the Drakkant Ti and the Kopparkant. Maybe a plate for a 1.2ish gap and 0.15 or 0.17mm exposure. Something similar to the Yates EH plate or Wolfman 1.25 WR2.
Regardless, I plan to grab a Drakkant+ Ti on the next drop. I've been impressed with Aylsworth.

Stumbled upon this interview with Caleb, worth a listen to if you are interested in his path to wetshaving and how he designs razors. Also there seems to be a sneak peak at the Apex Titanium at around minute 33:
