What's new

Anybody know what this is?

I just picked this up. It is a seven-day set of straight blades that interchange with the handle. The days of the week are written in French across the spine. The box has "Semainier" . The French word semainier translates to "tall chest with seven drawers" in English. Other than the days of the week, there are no markings on the blades or the handles. The box is really nice wood with velvet and leather interior and brass fixtures. The inlay work appears to be real gold. I would appreciate any information if anyone has a clue about what I have or can direct me where to look.

A French 7-day set, the box has been reworked looks like there has been some restoration, also the blade and scales you show in the photo have been repinned, using a modern soldered pin and washer, not a very sympathetic restore.

Thank you. Any clue who the mfg might be? Worth having it re-restored?

Ask me about shaving naked!
Is there any writing on the blades or the shank in the scales? \

Sets with 7 removable blades are fairly uncommon these days because of their age, so a restoration might be worthwhile. Keep in mind that restoring a razor is usually around $100-150, so restoring 7 can get pricey. Also, the mechanical latching mechanism in the tang is not simple.

Nope, not a thing on the blades other than the day of the week and a little filigre. The shank I managed to clean up a little, there is floral filigre on both sides but nothing else. No letters or numbers..
