Hey guys,

I am a remodeling contractor and came across this little beauty while removing old custom shelving from a flip house in CT. It was stored in the original poly bag (pictured) and appears to be new/unused, it also came with the blades and blade holder wrapped in what appears to be original tissue paper. I have never actually used a straight edge razor, but I wanted to know the worth of this razor in the condition it's in before mucking it up with my stubble. Any info on it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I don't think it is new, but it was gently used and well taken care of. Prices vary but I would guess in it's condition somewhere between $35-50.

I love the Proraso a/s. Haven't had a chance to try the Dominica yet, but I put a little bit on my neck to see how it would smell. This is my first encounter with a bay rum. I like it.

Can't wait to try out the Merkur 1906, Gillette blades and the bay rum tomorrow. :biggrin1:

A quick find at the antique fair...

I ordered a Simpsons Wee Scot also, should hopefully get it on Wednesday.

Edit* I took it out of the box and was surprised how small it was, the handle had a bit of weight to it which felt good and I thought the loft of the hairs seemed longer and softer than I would have wanted. And then I used it, let it soak in a mug full of hot tap water, dipped it into a tub of Fitjar shave cream and after 30 seconds of face lathering it just felt right. The length of the bristles and size of knot just worked really well together. I have fairly small hands and the brush handle while small still felt comfortable although I can see why users with larger hands may prefer other brushes.

After only one shave with it, I appreciate what a great face lathering brush it is and can see why it has such a loyal following along with Alexander Simpsons signature.

I won an auction for an Ever Ready Streamline set, paid a little below market price and am excited to try it! If it can beat my Damaskeene, it will become my daily driver.

Picked up some AOS Lavender After shave Gel from TK Maxx for £5. Seems like a bargain but then again I haven't tried it yet!

Haven't received it yet, but just received word that my Robert Becker scuttle is finished and should be here early next week. I am super stoked!

Robert was kind enough to send pictures of his creation for our viewing pleasure.

No photos, as I only have a crappy cell phone camera, but I scored one of these: http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Old Type/1918 Khaki Set.jpg 1918 Khaki sets. The ball has some major plating loss, there's 1 very slightly bent tooth & the inside of the case is in really rough shape. I paid $10 for it & it even has 5 old Gillette blades with it. The blades don't have any paper wrapper on them, so I'm guessing that they're used.

Since I'm not looking for a museum piece, I'm thinking of taking out the old fabric ( that's practically falling apart ) and putting new in.

After taking a second look, the blades are most definitely used... there were 4 gillette blades and a personna 74, so they will be hitting the trash.

Manuel gifted me this soap a couple of weeks ago, by surprise. At this time no lilacs in the flower shop, so I had to shoot the pic only with incense. Thanks Manuel, my friend.
