9 Weeks with Chinese Blades

Used a Flydear Platinum Super Stainless just a bit ago for today's shave.

I've been paying a lot more attention to to level of resistance or tugging I get from a blade lately in order to judge it's sharpness.

This was really good. Essentially no resistance on my cheeks, a slight increase of it on my chin. Close enough to Suneko sharpness to be not worth fussing about.

Blade Biter
where are you getting these for $2.62/100? I just wanted to sample them, so i got 20 for like $1.99 to get up to the coupon threshold.
Taobao.

But don't ready too much into regional pricing. In China, Feathers are $19/100, meanwhile Personna Lab Blues are $34.

Shave #1 - Chroma Stabil

So the Chroma Stabil is sort of Chinese....LOL. It's actually a German blade but is made apparently for export to Asia only. Hence why it seems to be impossible to acquire other than through Asian marketplaces like AliExpress and Temu. On a whim, I bought a pack some months ago and am just now trying it.

I didn't expect much from this blade, but my shave was an efficient pleasant one. The Chroma Stabil is a thin blade in my opinion... perhaps a little noisy in this Yintal razor I used. It falls into the sharp enough category like many Lords, Treets, and Durablades.

No complaints with this first shave. This is a budget blade that is offering acceptable performance for my face.

I had those in my cart but I never ordered them. I know Croma was a German brand but I kinda thought these were knock-offs. I will add it to my list of blades to buy and try.

Shave #2 - Chroma Stabil

An ok shave this morning. I worked a bit harder on clean up - more than I like. This combination of the Yintal Bronze and the Chroma Stabil probably is milder than my preference, so I will try it in a more efficient razor next time.

The blade still felt comfortable with no dragging.

Shave #3 - Chroma Stabil

The Chroma Stabil was a good match this morning in a Baili BT131. It cut well and was comfortable - I did not experience any skin irritation after the shave.

I might try for a 4th shave but considering I paid around 5 cents a blade, I think I got my money's worth.

Where would I rank this blade? Hmm, probably out of my top 20 overall which includes blades from all countries, but I don't think it is a bad blade at all. I'd say the Chroma and the Matgicols are in the same vicinity for me. No complaints for any of them.

Cranewarrior's Chinese blades rankings

1. Suneko Amorphous Diamond Super Stainless
2. FlyDear Super Platinum
3. Rhinoceros Swiss
4. Chroma Stabil
5. Matgicol Super Platinum black
6. Matgicol Super Platinum red
7. SilverBlue
8. Cloud Stainless B2004 (blue packaging)
9. PearlMax Super Platinum

So far, your top two match with what I consider the top Chinese blades as well. Haven't tried the Chinese "KCG", and probably won't because...I really don't need anymore DE blades of any sort.

Loaded a Jifuli into a 1983 Super Speed this morning. With a one day interval between my last shave, the Jifuli was noticeably more tuggy than a Derby Premium was with a three day interval and a Flydear with a two day interval.

I'll send you some Chinese KCGs.

I haven't been shaving as often as usual or on the forums as I have been searching for new employment.

The Silver Blue, Rhinoceros, and Pearlmax are terrible for me. Remembering: my Rhinos are several years old, maybe production has changed; I have two kinds of Pearlmax and Silver blues- not sure if they are the same or if I have tried them both yet.

I didn't review the KCG for this thread, but I consider it better than any mentioned here. It does cost more than most other Chinese blades at around $16 per 100.

Thanks, but that isn't necessary.

Hi Alex! If I remember correctly, KCG razor blades are among your favorites on your best blades list?
I thought I will try them even though the package in the five-blade pack locally is somewhat overpriced even for very good razor blades, if I remember correctly 3.50- 4 euros for 5 blades. For me much superior to GSB and I think other Gillette blades.

However, I am convinced that they are worth it and I will soon buy them to try them out.

Shave #1 - Yingjili
Proraso Green Creme
Gillette Tech Ball-End Post-war

On a first impression this morning, I liked the Yingjili blade. It is not as sharp as my preferred range from Gillette models, but I felt the glide and smoothness was a high attribute.

Two passes yielded a DFS. Next shave will be in a slightly more efficient razor.

Yup. They're just a little behind the GSB and Nacet for me, so I like them very much.

I left off the KCG blades (I'd put them with the Chroma Stabil). Also the Apache Titanium blades - totally Chinese packaging but I keep running into information saying they are made in the USA but only sold in China. Some packaging has Personna on it but not all. I see there is an Apache Platinum now but without the Personna logo anywhere. I haven't tried those. The Apache Titanium are up there with the TechMAX to me. As best I can figure out they are made by Carlife-Razor, which is a Chinese company. I am suspecting they may import the titanium coated and manufacture the rest of the Apache line .

Hi, great to see you back on the boards. FYI, I contacted that company from Alibaba to inquire about samples for Viceroy/TechMaxx blades. Their $5 sample ad is a listing mistake. For that little sum, they actually mean they will send a few tucks, not a full carton. Still $160 for a full carton isn't a lot, but the shipping to North America is expensive for a hobbyist like me.
