365 (Or More) Shaves in 2025

Monday 13th January, shave 13

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Lather: Boots Cool Cologne Shaving Cream
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC1.05 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #7
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I only needed a basic shave. Everything worked just right, though, so I took my time and got a near-BBS. This cream is better than I remembered. It's from a few years ago, so probably discontinued now.

The edge of the blade is a little worn and did not quite deliver a BBS, but that is the problem with using up your stash of inferior blades.

I've also got a bunch of inferior ones, but carpe diem is my attitude. I've still got ~ 700 PPI Astra Greens left, which seem to be a good combination of "sharp enough" and comfortable.

I'm not sure what to pick for February...

Shave number 14
365 shaves (or more) in 2025

Razor:
RR Lupo 95
Blade: Silver Star (5)
Brush Yaqi Purple Haze
Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Creme
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water

Tonight I tried out Stirling Sharp Dressed Man and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. It was easily slicker than Santa Maria del Fiore and better again than Moon Soaps Sorrento. So it looks like that is going to be my choice for the One Blade in February Challenge. Not a bad shave today, not BBS, but a good finish all the same.

Shave #14

January 14, 2025

Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (9)
Blade - Sputnik
Soap - Stirling 2018 Fair Debonaire
Brush - Stirling Synthetic
Finish - Stirling 2018 Fair Debonaire

It's a Stirling shave, featuring my second Fatboy, a 1959 that is my birth year and quarter. Paired it with the Russian Sputnik blade made by Gillette in St. Petersburg. The Stirling 2018 Fair Debonaire soap and aftershave were made for the event in St. Louis by that same name in 2018. It was a special edition soap and I was there to get mine. Fantastic Tobacco and Vanilla scent, and you can still get it from Stirling. After the event it was released as Haverford. I highly recommend it. Used a Stirling Synthetic brush for a great lather and had a great three pass shave. Smell great, look great, so hey, maybe I am great! Great shave to be sure.
