I’m still in! I went back to the razor that started me on this journey after I was fed up with cartridge razors.

This morning I used my VDH TTO razor which became relegated to under sink duties after picking up my Merkur and EJ over 10 years ago. The VDH isn’t a bad razor, but beyond nostalgia, I didn’t care for it. It’s a wonder to me now how I continued on this journey.

The VDH gives a very mild shave, it very lightweight, and doesn’t clamp the blade as tightly as I would like. It will go back under the sink and I’ll use it as a travel razor for road trips.

I used up the last of my Proraso cream in that tube, but I have another tube under the sink somewhere that I’ll start next. I almost forgot to mention that the brush is my first homemade brush I made back in 2015. I use it from time to time.

Thanks for the additional information Iguana. There are no meet ups where I live so based on your first posts it was harder for me to understand what was going on. My apologies. I have reinstated you as crew member. I would like to point out though that entering raffles comes pretty close to entering a PIF. Fortunately this is a gentlemanly restraint and not the shave inquisition, so we trust each other to keep the spirit alive and let us know when it’s not .

We'll plan a trip to one of Many MEETUP Around Country, or Start a local Group to host one. Feel fortunate to live in Phoenix Area even when it is 122 degrees in SUMMER.

RE is Close, RE host Meetup, few RE HATERS here, but no one say you can go to Meetup, Kiss Mtt's Ring. Just go hang out, Get FREEBEE, and Meet some OTHER NICE FOLKS.

Sort of like avoiding a trade Show because o1 Vendor is their you dislike, you got other vendors who both you can visit.

Not big Deal I am FREE of another Burden in my life, and way too many more important thin g to worry about.

Learn something long ago, that might not make sense to you, but easier to ask for forgiveness, then permission. Most of time in my life permission always came with too many strings.

Historically (and my first Restraint attempt was 2011), this aligns with the Restraint philosophy. Not winning a PIF isn't the determining factor; it's the "trying to acquire new stuff" which is the key.

That said, it is up to the Restaint leaders/organizers to set the rules every year.

Still in. FFFMM will keep me grounded this month. I haven’t had the itch for anything new lately, and I doubt that I will. I’m fairly content with what I have.
Smooth shave this morning, with the exception of the mustache area of my face. I still struggle going ATG in that area. I think I’ll give up for now and keep that part of my face marked for WTG only!
I’ve been using MdC lately…Fougère, Original (sample) and now Rose for FFFMM. I think that if I had to go a whole year with just one soap, it would be a selection from MdC. I do however, appreciate the freedom to choose from many other great soaps in my collection…it’s just these seem incredible to me. The scent is pleasant but, what really impresses me is the ease of creating such a lushly lather!

Anyway… I’m still on board maintaining a steady course. Hope you all are doing likewise.

Just a gentle reminder that this is a thread you entered voluntarily. The spirit of GRUYERE is a friendly supportive way to tame the RAD and FOMO urges. It is a fun, voluntary way to challenge ourselves. And there is no shame in not meeting the challenge (acquiring more cool stuff). In fact my last two attempts were glorious failures!

The "rules" are not burdensome and are clearly stated at the outset. You were generously granted a pass for the meetup. However, the various PIFs you entered on B&B since joining the 2025 GRUYERE would also put you "out."
