1906 Gillette Single Ring Set With Original Shipper (Picture Heavy)

I believe it shipped from Stuart, Virginia.
u know what makes me mad about this, i know who sold it. its a local antique dealer who i talk to all the time. he listed it before he talked to me about it at all. it doesnt really make me mad lol just wish i would have got first dibs. after he put it on he called me and asked me about it and how much i thought it would go for. i also know how much he originally paid for it lol it was no where close to what it went for.

Thanks to your antiques dealer friend for listing it in eBay first, else overseas collectors like us wouldn't have a chance:wink2: I do know that a lot of sets that I buy from eBay sellers may have been bought by them for a lot cheaper, but that is the nature of the game for overseas collectors!

That sucks, did he know you may have wanted dibs on it?

Well, i think that finding the Chrome Toggle for cheap $ last week should make up for it.

he knows i would have wanted it, that and the other one he bought at the same place. the thing with him is that its his business so i understand him wanting to make the most he possibly can, still sucks though.

Alex, cant i be a little greedy??? lol the toggle isnt enough.

the pic is the other one he got. he bought them for 15 bucks a piece

But as you & I both know whatever that dealer made on that razor like you with your toggle will by years end just pencil out to being even when you consider all the gas, trips, wear and tear on the car, time standing in line at estate sales, walking through antique malls, fairs and so on this hobby will not make us rich. We run a deficit doing this hobby.

Just imagine if I lived in the US though, that money I save on postage I could spend on something else ....

Be afraid, very afraid :)
LOL mate, couldn't have said it better! Not to mention the countless number of antique stores who'd know you as "that guy who's always coming in and asking about old safety razors":biggrin1:

Robert, where did he get them from?

it was at a thrift store. it was the first day it was opening and he was the first inside to buy stuff. which means he bought all the good stuff already lol

Well, he still cant beat you.....you went on a bike ride and stumbled upon a $500 to $800 dollar Chrome Toggle for just a few dollars.

It's NOT coincidence that Mark was stuck on an island. No sir. The razor gods knew ahead of time and talked amongst themselves and said "surely one man can't be allowed to have all the razors- Where can we put him?" So they made the continents drift apart while an island formed and stuck Mark on it. We are safe to roam! Notice Kinge isn't too far away? hehe...

Hey, you know what, they both live on islands and they both own the world's reserve on rare or scarce razors....coincidence ?

Three against two aye?! Get some more and then bring it on I say:lol: Seriously though, I've been into collecting only for one year and I'm nowhere near Achim, Mark, Jake or Robert! I'd love to get there though:wink2: And I'm sure there are other collectors with much better and bigger collections that they like to keep it private.
